The Miss Southern Illinois Organization will be hosting a Little Sister’s Program (formerly princess program) at the Carterville High School! We had such a wonderful time last year! Here are the details for this year:

Age Eligibility: 5-12
When: October 21, 2023
Where: Carterville High School

How to Register
1. Register your Princess before the day of the program here ($55): https://forms.gle/6agvBWR8hkhvbVKCA

2. Register your Princess on the day of the pageant! ($60)

The Program:
1. Our Program Kicks Off Onstage Practice—We want our Princesses to feel confident!
2. Princesses will participate in an Etiquette Lesson with our retiring queens!
a. There will be a tea party, sweet treats, time for coloring and creating, and of course LOTS OF FUN
3. Princesses will model in their Outfit of Choice Onstage
a. A dress, their favorite summer outfit, or their football uniform! Whatever makes them feel special!
4. Princesses Will Answer a Question Onstage—Practice in advance to increase comfort!
a. What do you want to be when you grow up?
b. What do you like to do for fun?
c. What is your favorite food?
d. What is your favorite animal?
e. How do you show kindness?

Program Itinerary
11:30 – 12:15 Registration Time (For those who did not pre-register)
12:30-1:00: Practice Time
1:00-1:30: Princess Etiquette Lesson—Thankfulness is the mark of a queen!
2:00: Miss Southern Illinois/Miss Heartland Pageant Begins
Wardrobe: Outfit of Choice (Wear whatever makes you feel most beautiful!)

I am officially 1 week from crowning my successor! With this being my first title, I wanted to spend some time each Saturday reflecting on some of my favorite moments, people, and experiences that made my time as Miss Heartland so special❤️

None of this would have been possible without the support and love of my directors, Janna and Annika! As former titleholders, they are living proof that the Miss America Opportunity has life long benefits! I was apart of the Miss Southern Illinois family the moment I inquired about the competition! Annika, thank you for your constant support! Whether it was wardrobe help, pre-interview FaceTimes, or just checking in to see how I was doing, you were always one text or phone call away! Janna, thank you for always being a familiar face in times of uncertainty! You were always willing to chat or offer your help wherever it was needed! I’m so excited for the next titleholders that get to be under your direction, they are so lucky!

TODAY (October 14th) is the deadline to turn in paperwork for the 2024 Miss Southern Illinois Scholarship Competition! Thank you to Mrs. Koscielski’s Kindergarten class at Iles Elementary School for having me as a special guest! We read “Dr. Seuss’s You Are Kind” and talked about how we can be kind every day! The class and I ended the day with a dance party to Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off”🤩

Congratulations to Ashlynn, Breana, and Rhiannon on your new titles! I know you three have an exciting and impactful year ahead of you! To my Lillie Brown, I am SO PROUD OF YOU! Teen Congeniality AND 1st runner up is an amazing accomplishment! I’m excited to see what you do next! As always it was a pleasure seeing my Miss Illinois Little Sister, Madelyn! It was so much fun to see her in the Mini Miss Capital City Program! I was also very happy to catch up with my girls Molly and Alli at lunch today! These two have such bright futures ahead of them!

This was my last local as Miss Heartland before I give up my title in less than 2 weeks! It was a bittersweet evening, but it was filled of great memories with some of the best people!

I found my new hidden talent today at the Quincy Museum’s Folk Life Festival! It was such a great afternoon volunteering as a face painter🎨🖌️

I am always so blown away by our amazing community and all the sweet (and CUTE) kiddos that are in it! Thank you to Bobette Cawthon and the rest of the Quincy Museum volunteers for allowing me to be a part of your annual festival!

I couldn’t finish this series without talking about my teenie! Lillie Brown is a true gift to this world, and I cannot wait to see all the amazing things she will do in life! She is kind, compassionate, and her CSI is going to move mountains for young girls! We became instant friends and were able to connect on our love for dance! Having a teen throughout my reign was so special and I loved every moment of it! Lillie and I have made so many amazing memories together that I wouldn’t trade for the world! To whoever gets Miss Lillie Brown as their teen next, you’re so lucky!

Last week I was able to visit the sweetest class of 5th graders at Denman Elementary School! Their teacher, Mrs. Braithwaite, was my vocal instructor many years ago, so this was a very special visit!

We talked about Miss America, facing our fear of trying new things, and how to use dance as an outlet for our emotions! Then, we had a fun mini hip-hop class where the students learned a short routine (which they totally rocked)! Overall it was a great morning full of DANCE!

I was so excited to read all of the thank you notes that the entire class wrote me🥹❤️

Let’s hear a little commotion for my Southern Illinois gals!!! Being a part of an organization with multiple titleholders was so special because I had built in sister queens from day 1 on the job! These two ladies have both contributed so much to the Miss Southern Illinois Organization during their reign, and it was so much fun getting to watch them shine on the Miss Illinois stage! Makenna was one of my first MAO friends, and I have been so grateful to share this year with her! Whether it’s going to an appearance together, helping each other with state prep, or just reaching out to have a chat, she has been so supportive during my time as Miss Heartland! Without Natalie and her mom, I may not have had the courage to compete in the Miss Southern Illinois Organization! She has been such a joy to be around and was always willing to give advice about MAO! Very thankful for my forever Miss Southern Illinois 2023 and Miss Southern Illinois’ Teen 2023!

I was honored to judge the Jr Miss and Queen portions of the Barry Apple Festival Pageant yesterday… and boy was it tough! All 9 girls that walked onto the stage have so much to be proud of! They all have such bright futures and I cannot wait to see their pageant journeys unfold!

It was such an honor to hand out awards to all of these hard working athletes! Watching them bowl and strive to be the best they can be reminded me why I started Lift the Barriers: Dance is for Everyone as my CSI! It is important for me to advocate for these individuals because when given the opportunity, they will exceed all expectations! The confidence, perseverance, and determination I saw yesterday was so inspiring!

Congratulations to all the athletes advancing to Sectionals and thank you to Special Olympics Illinois - Region H for allowing me to be a part of your day! It was an experience I will never forget!

Hey friends! Thought I would post something a little different today!

I have said from day one on the job that my goal was to show both Miss Heartland and Just Jasmine. Authenticity is what makes a titleholder great, so that’s what I have strived to have throughout my reign. With locals, specifically Miss Southern Illinois/Miss Heartland, getting closer and closer, I wanted to get real with my followers in case there is someone out there on the fence about competing because they don’t think they are perfect enough. I once thought this, and it was by leaping into the Miss America Opportunity that I realized that was simply not true. All women in this organization are on their own path and Miss America meets you where your feet are planted. They are able to give you the resources, scholarships, and support needed to have success in whatever journey you’re on.

I hope you take some time to listen to my very real, very raw, and very personal story and how my experience in the Miss America Opportunity helped me find my passion, my purpose, and my why! Please look into your locals around you and SIGN UP because the Miss America Opportunity is waiting for you❤️

Congratulations to all the delegates that competed today in the Miss Mississippi Crown Organization! I am so excited to see the journey that McKenna, Kyrrah, and Annie will take throughout their reign! Huge shout out to my girl Emma who had the most heartfelt farewell, I am so proud to call her a friend! I also loved getting to see some of my sister queens, our fabulous Miss Illinois, Jess, and my favorite little sister Li'l Miss Illinois 2023 - Madelyn Tudor!

How could I not acknowledge my home away from home?! For those of you that don’t know, I am an instructor at my childhood dance studio! I would not be the person (or queen) I am today without my studio owner, Cindy, her late husband, Frank, and all the amazing people at Vancil Performing Arts Center! The moment I announced I was competing in the Miss America Organization, I got nothing but support from the VPAC students, staff, and dance moms! They have been some of my biggest cheerleaders throughout my reign as Miss Heartland, and I could not have gone on this journey without their love (and patience)! Thank you Cindy and VPAC for everything, you rock💙

The sun came out just in time for the parade, but the crown and sash stayed in the car just in case it started raining again!! It was so much fun getting to meet the people of Jacksonville and spending some time with Lillie before we give up our crowns!

My brother, Jax, and I have been so fortunate to grow up in a home with unlimited access to books! We decided to share our love for reading with others and dropped off some book donations to the Adams County Health Department this morning! They allow their patients to take home a book with them after every visit! I will also be donating some books later today to our the Children’s Psychiatric Unit at our hospital!

The best gift anyone can give or receive is knowledge📚

Making appearances is one of the best parts of this job! I have gotten to interact with so many new people throughout my time as Miss Heartland! From being visiting royalty, to volunteering at charity events, to spending time in classrooms, there was never once a dull moment! I am so thankful to everyone that let me be a part of their community! Service has always been my favorite point of the crown!
