Mo is seven years old and represents the Naughty Party. He is a bit of a bad boy and was the naughtiest penguin this year. He featured on the list twice, more than any other penguin, for crimes such as hoarding nesting materials, stealing fish from other birds, and just being a bit lazy.

The finalists for Penguin of the Year have been announced by the humans at National Aquarium of New Zealand. But will you vote for the Good Party of the Naughty Party?

OPINION: Birds are noisy and disruptive to society. Without us stoats, the bird song in this country would be cacophonous. You wouldn’t be able to hear anything over the dawn chorus. No more sleep ins! Everyone would be woken at 5am to a tūī or kākā kicking off outside their window.

Find out why Syril the Stoat and his mates at the Stoatary Club are sick of being blamed for the deaths of 25 million native birds each year.

Syril the Stoat loves birds as much as the next mammalian predator. But he's bloody sick of copping the blame for the deaths of 25 million birds every year.

Controversy has struck the kea campaign for with the release of videos that show several kea vandalising human vehicles, including a police truck.

One witness said the birds were biting onto rubber seals, roof rails and the radio antennae.

“People don’t come to New Zealand to see animals in the wild, so to see a gang of kea behaving like this has been quite off-putting. I can’t help but wonder whether tourists would even come to New Zealand if they knew you had wildlife just roaming about freely.”

Controversy has struck the Kea campaign after shocking footage of two birds destroying human vehicles, including a police truck, emerged online.
