I'm happy to announce that I completed the Design Aesthetics for the Web Course on LinkedIn Learning.

The course covered the following topics:
- Aesthetics
- Using Elements of Design
- Incorporating Principles of Design
- Web Design Industry and Trends
- Designer's Role and Web Design Workflow.

This certification will give me necessary skills I need to offer better design services to brands and businesses.

On Skills

The term refers to the ability to perform an action with a determined result in a given amount of time.

It is the ability to do something proficiently in any given amount of time.

For example, a carpenter is skilled in carpentry, medical students spend many years in medical school to become skilled in their fields, athletes practice consistently in other to master their craft.

What SKILL are you working towards getting good at?

Designing websites today is super easy when you have the right knowledge.

From August 5th - August 7th, I will be training on 'How to Design Websites Without Coding'.

There are many ways one can design websites today. I will be training participants specifically on how they can use Content Management System platforms like WordPress and Wix to build fully functional websites for Brands and Organizations.

The Free training is for those who don't know how to code or those without any tech background.

I was hosted at the Relevance Conference 2022 by Emmanuel Okede where I spoke about Productivity in Times as this - How to Effectivity Maximize the Online Space for (Digital) Productivity.

A few weeks ago I made plans to teach quite a number of people how to Design Websites for their Brands/Businesses without coding.

My target audience were beginners, business owners and those without any technical knowledge like coding or programing.

Publicity began for 3 weeks before the actual date.

My goal was to get over 500 people joined the training without running paid Ads.

I'm grateful for my mentor sir Elisha Mamman who had thought me how to set goals. I knew it was possible to do with an actual plan. So got my book and created a simple funnel/strategy to get over 500 people join.

I'm also grateful to Fortune Nnamdi who taught me about generating leads.

After three weeks of executing the plan, over 500 people requested access to joined the training.

We held our first live session yesterday on Telegram and from my end, I noticed that over 65 people joined in live for the Design Website without Coding Training.

It was amazing. It will be my first time of hosting my personal Live Stream session online 😃. I'm grateful to God for growth so far.

So far, I've realized that it is important to plan and also have a good strategy before doing anything.

You may have plans on learning a skill before the year runs out. Set it as a goal and record it in a book. They draw out a plan to achieve that goal. You may want to inform people that will hold you accountable or you may also want to set 2 hours to learn/practice each day, etc.

Before embarking on any project, never forget to begin with a PLAN.

In as much as people desire great things for themselves, setting up a plan on how to obtain them is important.

Making confessions and words of affirmations are great.

But the place of PLANNING shouldn't be forgotten. A plan enables you to set up a structure to obtain the results you seek.

You probably want to learn a skill before the end of 2022. It is possible to do so.

Set up a Plan and Implement it. For instance, you can decide to set 5 hours to Learn the skill and Implement what you Learned weekly. If you don't have the resources to enrol for a course/training/mentorship etc, you can start with YouTube or Google.

You may decide to learn how to sell (online) correctly, how to create social media content for your brand/business etc.

Then put in 1 hour daily for 5 days consistently. Also, break it down more. 30 minutes for Learning and 30 minutes to implement what you Learnt.

Setting up a Plan is important. Don't just set goals and leave them to chance.

Many started the year with certain goals but none have been achieved till today.

It may not be because of a lack of discipline. It could most like be because of the absence of a Plan.

Someone may say "but Calvin, unexpected things happen sometimes". That's very correct. But it's much better to have a Plan/Strategy than not to have any.

A few weeks ago I got selected by wootlabfoundation in partnership with Microsoft to train students on Website Design using Wix and WordPress.

Quite a number of participants joined the training and yes it was massive.

Participants got to learn about Website Design and I trained them on the following:

- How to choose a Domain name and Hosting Plan

- Introduction to WordPress and Wix

- How to install WordPress.org on a computer for personal practice

- WordPress Plugins

- WordPress Codex

- Difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org

- Elementor Page Builder

- Wix Apps

- Wix Editor

- Working with Themes

and lot's more.

I taught them how to Processional Brand Websites using both WordPress an Wix.

For me, training them gave me a platform to share my knowledge, skills and expertise and I'm grateful to be a part of their growth process.

It's one thing to learn and it's another thing to practice. I'm glad quite a number of participants practiced and also got to share their testimonials.

5 Things You Can do to RANK High Online Even if You are not an SEO Expert

If you are not yet familiar with what an SEO means, it stands for Search Engine Optimization.

A good SEO optimizes your Visibility Online.

So why is a good SEO important? With a good SEO, more people will visit your website, thereby enabling you to generate more traffic and eventually giving you a chance to provide your products or services to more people online.

I started designing Websites for Businesses last year after learning the skill. I currently design Brand Websites fo a Minimum of N100,000 ($200) and eCommerce Website at a minimum of N150,000 ($300). The features of the website determines the exact price.

One thing I noticed was that majority of those clients I designed websites for wanted to Rank High online but they didn't have a budget to hire a person that will handle the SEO aspects of their project.

Notwithstanding, I was able to come up with a few strategies I implemented that enabled their Websites to rank High on Google.

I'll be sharing some of those strategies here:

- A Unique Name: To Rank High on Google, you should consider having a Unique Name.
A name that almost no one is using. It could be a unique name for your business.

The businesses I worked with had unique names, so I used their business name as their Domain Name.

- Social Media Platforms: Another way to Rank High on Google search is being active on Social Media. Consider having well optimized Facebook Account, page, Twitter Account, Instagram Account, LinkedIn Account, YouTube Page, Pinterest Accounts and more. Note that the same names should be used on these platforms.

- A Verified Google Business Profile: A Google Business Profile is a free listing provided by Google which enables your business to be listed on Google Map and Google visible of Google Search.

It enables you to provide the details of your business like photos, services, location and Products.

During the registration process, Google will send you a code which you are to use inorder to verify your business.

When verification is completed, your business will be listed on Google Map/Search. Most times, people find it difficult to receive this verification code, as a result, their business ends up not being listed on Google. I can help you handle this aspect effectively.

- Blog Page: Another way to Rank high on Google is by posting content regularly on the blog page of your website.

In most cases, a blog contains written contents. You can use tools like Rank Math to optimize the written content.

- Plug-in: Finally, another way to Rank High on Google is by using Free Plugins. A few I recommend are Yoast SEO Plugin and Rank Math SEO Plugin. The Free version of these plugins provides you with basic services you can use to effectively handle the technical aspects of SEO.
