We are beyond excited to partner with Circus Artspace and Highland Pride LGBT+ community to be part of an awesome pre-pride sober party on Friday July 21st (the day before the official pride parade on July 22nd), from 6-10pm.

This will feature one of our legnedary open deck nights 😬 An open deck night is like an open mic night, but for DJs. Think you have the tunes to get the party popping? Just bring a USB stick and go for it! - think disco, pop, funk, house etc. This will be a perfect supportive and low-pressure environment to get some experience of DJing in front of a live audience 🤗 We’ll also likely have some DJ sets from some of our regulars, such as , Sand, and Friend of Dorothy.

🤓Free DJ 101 workshop before the party starts, at 5-6pm. If you are a complete beginner, and feeling nervous but tempted to have a go at the open deck party, then come to our free DJ workshop at 5pm! This is completely free and open to everyone and anyone, don’t worry if you have zero experience or equipment.

🪧🪧🪧Make your own placard for the pride parade! There will be materials on hand at the party - and artists to get tips and help from - so you can make your own placard for Pride 2023. Never made a placard before? Then this can be a super-cool new experience to tick off your bucket list!!

🍪🧃they’ll be food and drink, and we’d appreciate contributions too! Remember though, this is a sober party, so no alcohol please!

It’s a big area, so they’ll be quiet spaces available too, for people put off by high noise levels at parties.

We’re hitting the road, and going to Caithness! As part of Pride Month programme (and bravo, LAC, for all the events you put on for this!), this Saturday we are hosting a DJ 101 workshop, followed by an open deck dance party later in the evening. It’s going to be a one-of-a-kind night, not to be missed! For lgbtq+ folk and our wonderful allies

In addition to throwing great parties, our whole schtick is about getting more lgbtq+ people into DJing and club nights. We want to see more q***r DJs in the Highlands, and that will no doubt get more q***r people out vibing in front of the decks too, which we also want to see more of! And with that in mind, we're starting the evening off with a free DJ 101 workshop, which everyone is welcome to attend, no matter what level you are at.

🪩 Then we'll be having a dance party from 8pm…in addition to DJ sets from QWF residents, we’ll have an open deck section. That means, if you bring a USB stick with some tunes, you can have a go at DJing yourself! This will be the perfect low pressure supportive environment to have a go, from 15-45 mins, whatever you feel comfortable with! We know what you’re thinking - that you’re not ready, but trust us, you’ll do fine! We’ll be there to help if you need it.

Or if you don’t want to play tunes, just come to join the party, the q***r energy will be off the charts, and no doubt you’ll be treated to some awesome new music and sounds you’ve not heard before.

What better way to celebrate Pride month than with some q***r open deck nights! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

📆 Thursdays in June: 1st, 15th, and 22nd, from 7pm

What’s an open deck night? It’s the DJ equivalent of an open mic night - a low pressure environment for budding DJs to play some tunes and practice DJing.

What to expect? We set up our DJ gear at Pentahotel, while our superbuddies Inverness Kiki Family have their amazing friendly weekly q***r meetups. Sometimes these get pretty busy and crowded, some weeks they are a bit more chill, either way this is a good opportunity to get some experience of DJing in public.

Why do we do it? The whole raison d’etre of Qu**rs Without Fears is to encourage and increase q***r representation in the Inverness DJ and club scene. And with more q***r folk performing behind the decks, then we’ll get more q***r people coming out to dance in front of the decks! 🪩🕺🏽💃🏼

How good/ experienced do you have to be? Complete beginners welcome! If you can press ▶️ on a spotify track, or a CD player, or a song on YouTube, then you can press play on a DJ controller, that’s a start! DJing is a hobby that takes 5 minutes to get into, and then a lifetime to perfect and master. Just bring a usb stick with tracks that you think are gonna get people up dancing on the Penta pool table, and lets go! 30 -45 mins worth of music is good. Get in touch if interested. Or just show up on the night.

Top DJ Anita Mann back on the decks last Thursday night, with her uncanny ability to get the party started and get us all grooving 😍

Thanks to all who came, and all who have had a go on the decks in the last 4 weeks! That’s our last open deck night till Thursday June 1st, so lots of time to get some tunes ready on a usb stick and then DJ for us in June. Complete beginners welcome, send us a message.

And thanks to Inverness Kiki Family for having us along at their Thursday socials, check them out, they are building something special 🫶 Together, and with all your help, we’re gonna make Inverness the San Francisco of the UK, ie the q***r capital…and the likes of Manchester, Brighton, Glasgow and London will all be looking to Inverness with envy, and for tips! 😜🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Super cool news, Qu**rs Without Fears have been invited to DJ at this amazing alternative event happening this Saturday in Inverness! The event is facilitated by Circus Artspace , located in an empty retail unit on Carsegate Road, and features presentations by artists, filmmakers and performers. This is precisely what we want to see more of in Inverness, and we are pleased as punch to be a part of it!

Everyone is welcome to come along, and entry is free. They’ll be a friendly and welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. If this type of contemporary art practice is new to you, then this is the ideal time to give it a go. It is a ‘scratch night’, which is an evening designed to give artists the opportunity to test out their material on an audience, in a relaxed and friendly setting. We don’t know exactly what the pieces and performance and films will be, but we know what Circus Artspace are all about, so we’re expecting to encounter strange and wonderful memorable experiences that you get all too rarely in Inverness. All this, plus they’ll be great tunes from ourselves 🎶

This is part of Midnight Majic's pre-party before they head to Upstairs at Gellions later that night, for Inverness's most q***r-friendly monthly club night (they'll be at Upstairs from 10pm to 2am, entry £8)

Wanna come, but don't have friends who are really into it? Inverness Kiki Family have you covered, anyone is welcome to join them, they are all about tackling isolation in the highlands and bringing like-minded folk together in as fun and relaxed a way as possible, give it a go! We're back with some open deck nights - every Thursday in April, from 8pm, at Pentahotel, Inverness!

What's an open deck night? It's like an open mic night, but for DJs. Budding DJs can have go in a low pressure environment. Unless we're missing it, there doesn't appear to be that many lgbtq+ voices in the Highlands/ Inverness DJ and club scene, and we'd like to change that! Complete beginner? Don’t worry, we got you. If you can count to 4, and know some great music, that’s a perfect starting point! We’ll work out the rest as we go…

Just bring a usb stick with tracks that you think are gonna get people up dancing on the Penta pool table, and we’re good to trot! Disco, pop, funk, house, electronic I guess would be most suitable, but we'll try anything once! 30 -45 mins worth of music is good. Or just mess around with our songs for now if you like. This will be our last Open Deck Night for a while…after this week, we’ll not be back until Thurs April 6th, when we’ll do another 4-week run of Open Deck Nights.

We’ve already had some great sets in the last couple of weeks from some new faces, and some familiar faces, some beginners, and some pros.

We have a DJ controller to play around with, and it means music lovers and budding DJs have a chance to have a go, in a safe, friendly and low-pressure environment!

You don’t need any experience, equipment, or a dream to become a professional DJ to participate, only your curiosity in trying out DJing matters!

Just bring yourself, and a USB stick/hard drive with all your bangers. Or you can just play around with our tunes for now!

More experienced DJs are welcome also, please come along and teach us the ways!

Or just come and hang out and listen to some tunes if you’re not interested in DJing yourself, there’s always a very special unique vibe at these nights that you’ll struggle to find elsewhere in Inverness x
