More for archival purposes but has we continue to promote and participate in this Hip Hop jam, we have been doing more digging for songs that fit in a live band setting. As there is a horn player who holds down the house band duties/organizing and we have other players who come to the event, a video like this is a great reference for not only expanding the catalog, but also doing some more research into the connection between live instruments and sampling....

Coast Contra is a rap group consisting of members Ras and Taj Austin (LA, CA and sons of Ras Kass), Rio Loz (Colombia) and Eric Jamal (Philly). The group's first single, "Queen & Slim," was released in 2019 and was included on the soundtrack to the film Queen & Slim. There first Lp, the Deep, dropped in 1996 and helped usher one of the best waves of J-Hip Hop to date, adding to the Golden Era internationally with their own take on beats and rhymes. It is dope to see them still rocking and repping.
