What a beautiful and comforting quote. Christian, nothing can separate you from the hand of God. Once saved, always saved.

Sometimes I think there’s an assumption that the longer you’ve been a mom, the less help you need. You’ve got it “figured out”. While some things come more easily, some storms you’re used to weathering, it doesn’t get easier. I need God’s grace and wisdom every day, through every season. My need for Him every moment never decreases. In fact, I think I see even more ways I need Him. Reliance upon the Lord is a good thing. Go to Him.

This truth helps me operate from a place of security instead of fear, and I’m often tempted to make decisions based off fear or the opposite of what I don’t want to happen. Do you struggle with this?

If you expected your Christian life to be easy, you didn’t read the entirety of scripture.

“Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Even though we can and should expect persecution and difficulty in life, we should also expect peace and hope because Jesus says:

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.””
‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬ ‭ESV‬‬

What’s so good about Good Friday? Christ’s sacrifice and payment for our sins. He declared that “it is finished” as he, a sinless man, took on the full punishment of sin.

Motherhood is hard, that’s no secret. But God makes you a mother, and he doesn’t leave you alone in motherhood. Have comfort that the creator of the universe, the creator of life in your womb, knows exactly what season you’re in right now. And He will never leave you alone in it.

God always keeps his promises.

And still, we question his faithfulness. This year has been a trying one. I (Anna) was in the ER in January, my husband was in the ER in February, I ended up in the ER again in March, and then needed surgery the next week (which is why I stopped posted about the Minimalism Challenge). Even still, God is faithful.

My church is going through 2 Corinthians and I’m reminded that Christ tells us that we should expect trials and persecution, because he was persecuted. But we hate it when it happens, right? Take heart, Christian, you are not forgotten. In fact, God allows trials for our sanctification — so that we can become more like Christ.

1 Peter 1:6-7
“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

There is so much thankfulness in my heart for the prayers surrounding us. The phrase “we have felt your prayers” has never rang more true for me than it has in these past several months. Anna and I have both had varying difficult circumstances, but one comfort is knowing how many Christian men and women are interceding on our behalf.

If you are not plugged into a godly community, I wanna encourage you to find one. Find those people who will pray for your family like their own. Pray that God would bring them into your life. Life is better in community. Even if it’s just a small few ☺️✌🏻

Praising the Lord in the midst of a hardship can be a difficult feat. But I’ve noticed that when I intentionally turn my mind and actions towards praise, my heart will follow.

Trials will follow faith. May your faith be proved strong and genuine for the glory of Jesus Christ.

Any other C. S. Lewis fans? 🙋🏼‍♀️

Let’s talk about grace. Homemaking is a wonderful gift and conman of God; however, it’s normal to not always be good at it and normal to need breaks. What I mean is, homemaking isn’t just cleaning and cooking. It’s also taking breaks from those things to invest in your children. Leave the sink full of dishes if the it means that you don’t miss the only quality time with your husband and children that day. Focus on storing your treasures in heaven and not on your coffee table.

When it comes to minimalism, it’s easy to get obsessed, or even go over board. The goal is not to just start throwing things out because you’re seeking a kind of status, but to work on a skill as a homemaker. For me, I want to use my spaces well, and I’d rather spend less time organizing and cleaning if I can. What is one of your goals with decluttering? Let me know!! Tag us with if you’re joining in ☺️✌🏻

We’re so excited to introduce our new March Minimalism Challenge to you!

“It’s not about living with 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴, it’s about living 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺.”

Each day of March, we’re going to focus on decluttering so that we can spend more time with the ones we love. On March 1st, we’ll get rid of one item; March 2nd, two items; March 3rd, three items, and so on. At the end of March, we’ll have purged 496 things from our homes.

Makes sure you check out today’s blog for more information (link in bio)! And tag to join us!

“The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest.” — Thomas Moore⁣

I can’t speak for everyone, but I don’t always like TBR monotony of homemaking. I love the idea of it, but I often get annoyed about having to do the dishes… again. However, when I keep my focus on God and how this is one way I can love my family and honor Him, that distaste goes away. So, homemaker, remember that God sees and delights in your faithfulness.

John 15:4-5

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

It sounds so simple, yet, it’s so easy to forget. A simple mishap in our day and we claim that it’s ruined. Being late to work, baby’s not napping, realizing you forgot to buy an ingredient for dinner, etc. It’s so easy to let these unfortunate events upset us. And why? Because we want to be sovereign like God. Even as I type this caption, I grow frustrated with how poorly autocorrect is, and I think, “can I ever do anything right?”.

Well friend, rejoice that you’re not sovereign. God is completely and utterly in control, even in our mishaps. Everything is used for His glory and for our good (Romans 8:38-30). Abide in Him because He knows the outcome. He knows the best for us and nothing ever goes wrong in His day.

I thought being a prayer warrior meant you were a super organized prayer. On Monday you pray for family, Tuesday government, Wednesday friends, Thursday church, Friday the lost etc. And I know this organized type of praying is beneficial, but it doesn’t have to be the only way to pray. Being faithful to pray, being a prayer warrior, I believe means you rely on prayer like it is your breath and life. You know nothing is going to get you through the darkness like prayer will. When you go to pray for another person, you pray as if you were praying for yourself. The same frequency, the same heart attitude. Putting yourself in the position of whoever you are praying for before the Lord. I believe this is the heart and practice of a prayer warrior.

Can we really have peace and joy in the midst of trials?

We read about it, but do you find yourself wondering if it’s actually possible? Maybe because you’ve walked through some incredibly difficult circumstances, and holding onto joy and peace felt like trying to cup water in your hands?

As a mom of 6 who has walked through some pretty scary times, I want to encourage you that yes, you can have joy and peace. But that it is a fight.

There are times where some of the sickness and difficulties have brought the sweetest times of prayer and closeness to the Lord, through my efforts to fight but also through His grace. Some moments where He uses those things to draw me to Himself and I am protected by the peace of God.

There are other times where I’m crying in the darkness and the hard asking God for help and feeling alone, fighting to tell my head and heart it’s not true. We are not alone.

Ive recently had both of these experiences.

There is not a secret trick or magic potion that will bring about true peace and joy in your life. But, a heart and mind completely dependent and desperate for the peace and joy of God WILL be satisfied. That satisfaction comes through practice. It comes through perseverance. It reaches your heart and saturates your mind when you fight for it. You can’t quit. You can succumb to what is in front of you, or you can arm yourself with the promises of God and say “yes! I believe You when You say Your peace is mine. I believe that I have every spiritual blessing. I believe that because I ultimately believe Jesus rose from the grave. And if I can believe death didn’t defeat Him, and that same power lives in me, I can believe that You will shine light into my night”.

So, don’t give up. Reach out for help and prayer. Pick one verse or one phrase and you keep saying that until you drive other thoughts out of your head.

That’s how it works. Perseverance. He loves you. He will hold you up. He is holding you up. He is showing you your weakness so you can look at His strength. And oh how mighty He is.

My baby girl is going to have surgery on Wednesday for her cleft lip. In the grand scheme of things, it’s a small procedure. But in my heart and mind it’s a big deal as I’ve never done anything like this. We are trusting the Lord and the team He’s placed us with! I’d appreciate y’all praying for her with me 💜

Motherhood is hard. That’s no secret. But as .is.for.mama says, “hard does not equal bad.”

January was a very hard month for both Steffanie and I (Anna). My daughter Adelaide started fighting sleep for the first time in her life, which resulted in hours of screaming. I had a trip for the ER. Adelaide and I both got a cold, then Erick and I had the stomach bug. I was completely at my wits end. I didn’t know what to do besides pray. And if I’m honest, I was very angry that the Lord didn’t immediately answer my prayers and give me the comfort that I so desired. But how kind is it of Him, that he doesn’t always give us what we want, but He always gives us what we need. Throughout that season, the Lord clearly showed me my selfish heart. And although it’s icky, and I don’t like it, I’m thankful to be on the other side. Because I am aware of my selfish heart, I’m able to better love my family, because I can see my sin tendencies.

Mamas, God doesn’t promise us that our days will be easy. But God does promises that He will give us new mercies each morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).

I just love this picture. This morning she slept really late and I kept waiting to hear her so I could go get her. The morning was going well, but yesterday was really hard. Sickness and things. But when I went to get her and found her big smiley self, super happy that someone had come to see her, I just felt that overwhelming joy over having a baby. Babies are special. They can bring such joy and peace to a home. Yes, there’s so much else as well but God designed babies to uniquely fit into a family. These have been some long months (not because of her necessarily, just in general). But I wouldn’t trade doing them with her for anything. She’s so precious. Children are worth the effort, worth the lines, wrinkles, marks and scars. I see in her a reflection of the glory of God. All around me, He’s blessed me with beautiful image bearers. I think, if there’s this much joy and privilege in motherhood as we are getting these glimpses of God’s goodness, what might it be like someday to be in His presence, the source of that goodness and joy?

There’s something good that is never gonna run out 😉

Truly though, I dislike the sentiment “nothing good lasts forever”. Even though there is some practical wisdom there, I think we should focus on the good in our lives that is constant. Unchanging. There, though we are undeserving. God’s goodness is all around you and ever present, and if you’re in a season where it’s hard to feel like there is any good coming your way, turn your eyes to the One who is full of goodness. He loves you. He is with you. He is good.

The family unit is a perfect design for practicing loving people when it’s hard. If you’re already married with children- do you feel the way your family treated each other before you left home helped you in marriage or with children? Or what would you have changed? Can you implement those things in your home right now?

Change starts with you. It can truly take one soft word instead of an angry one to turn the tide. It can take one act of putting the other person before yourself.

Will you be the change?

“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭10‬

“Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭

This time of year has me thinking more about light. I love the imagery of Christ coming and bringing light to the world, and the way the world lights up around Christmas. I often tell my children that they have a special light inside them, the light of Christ, and the whole world needs their light. I pray that wherever you are celebrating Christmas, your family is able to brightly shine a light for the glory of Christ.

When I find my heart slowly drifting towards callousness, this is a prayer I go to over myself and my family. A somewhat scary prayer, but it always aligns my priorities with the truth. If you find you’re having more thoughts about how things should be going or how you want them to go, bucking against the service required of you, I challenge you to wholeheartedly pray this.

We need peace in our lives. How can we actively be pursuing that all throughout our day?
Pray. Think. Act.
Commit to praying through every situation and as needs arise, train your mind to think heavenward, take action on opportunities where you can do something to create peace instead of adding to chaos ✨

Practically as a mom that looks like: praying with the child who is being a little extra, say our Bible verses all together out loud and as I go through normal tasks, choose to get down on my child’s level instead of yelling across the room 🤍

What is something you do to create peace in your home?
