Ok, so this has been on my mind for quite some time but most recently after I played a game called Sagebrush by Redact Games. In Sagebrush, you discover a big ranch that used to be home to a toxic religious cult. The game is quite fascinating with first person gameplay similar to Gone Home but in a PS1 styled aesthetic....

So as you may have heard, I'm making a game. I'm making one because I need a game to demonstrate my ideas of an interactive narrative and so far, I haven't come across any games that do it. So I'm making my own with the help of a talented programmer/developer.

In the game, I'm trying to achieve something I would call "faith-based", meaning I'm trying to make the practice of Faith into a mechanic. How's that for pretentious?

How I originally pictured this mechanic was forming a sort of meta-narrative where the player believes something about the game that was never proved but rather implied through design.

This is quite literally trying to imitate the way Faith (or any kind of observation for that matter) works in the real world; One sees something happen and attaches meaning to it through the speicifc context they were given. Basically it's a way for the player to ascribe meaning to whatever they're doing. It's actually the same rule that every game has built-in via the core gameplay-loop.

This is a segment of my blog! You can read the rest here if you'd like:
