The purpose of In Spirit is to help elevate talented musicians who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We may not be able to stand together in flesh, but we can stand together in spirit.

With BRYNN Terea has released an album and two singles to glowing reviews, toured the nation numerous times, performed main stage slots at the country’s top festivals and opened for international rock legends, Incubus. To top it off, BRYNN was also selected to represent South Africa at the prestigious Canada Music Week in Toronto, Ontario.

She is the lead singer of the band Diamond Thug, however, 2020 looks to be the year that she releases her new, highly evocative solo album ‘Nicalochan’. JAK TOMAS (FKA Joshua Grierson) is an authentic, passionate and uncompromising artist that wants to tell you a story. The 35-year-old multi-genre singer-songwriter, producer and musician grew a loyal fan base in Cape Town and abroad throughout the 2000s until a short-lived hiatus in 2012. Since 2018, Tomas has reemerged to the local and international scene, a little wiser and even more introspective.

FIRST LIVE STREAM THURSDAY 26/03

The world has changed drastically over the past few weeks. The outbreak of COVID-19 has shaken the Global Community and resulted in some frightening uncertainties.

In Spirit Live is a response to one of those uncertainties – namely the uncertainty of the artist.

Filmmakers have had shoots postponed indefinitely, musicians have had shows cancelled, and add to that list the venues that hosted them. Without any income in sight, the artists that we turn to, and will most likely be turning to even more as we self-isolate, are the ones in need of our support now more than ever.

In Spirit Live will be streaming performances from various music venues in Cape Town. Streams will have a donation option where viewers can opt to financially contribute to the artists/bands, the filmmakers and the venues involved. 10% of all proceeds will go towards the manufacturing and distribution of hand-sanitizers and other aides to local communities suffering from a lack thereof.

Our first stream will take place from The Raptor Room on Thursday, 26 March at 19h00 (CAT). Line up and Heath & Safety precautions to follow.

We know that it is a difficult time. But there has never been a more important time for us to stand together. We are stronger united than we'll ever be apart, and this is our attempt to not withdraw and be defeated, but instead to rise to the occasion.

We may not be able to stand together in flesh, but we will stand together in spirit.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it has had on the music industry, In Spirit is producing online shows and live streams to support local artists and keep music lovers entertained.

Together, In Spirit

The world has changed drastically. The outbreak of COVID-19 has shaken the Global Community and resulted in some frightening uncertainties.

In a united attempt to manage the spread of the virus, people are practicing social-distancing and self-isolation. For the foreseeable future, our dearest pastimes and any income generators that revolved around us gathering together are no longer a possibility. This is only one of the numerous effects that the virus has had.

People in all industries and sectors are suffering. And it goes without saying that the measures in place are necessary ones, as what is most important is that we preserve the wellness of all humankind. But despite it being the right thing to do, we cannot deny the cost at which it has come.

In Spirit is a response to one of those costs – namely the cost to the artist.
