Not sure if anyone has had the chance to watch the Espn 30 for 30 series on Lance Armstrong. If you had would love your thoughts. I found it pretty disturbing to be honest. You think with everything he experienced I thought he would have taken some ownership and found some humility. I guess for some people it can go the other way and makes you more cynical, bitter and narcissistic. Some big lessons to be learnt here than transcend sport.

Really excited this week to have Blackcaps pace bowler Kyle Jamieson on the podcast. He announced himself on the international stage in early 2020 with a tremendous performance against a very strong Indian side.

What I really enjoyed about our chat was the depth of understanding he possess around the importance of the mental game. He also possess a rare level of self awareness that has allowed him to work on the keys areas of performance required for him to go to the next level.

Easiest way to access is through itunes and spotify, make sure you subscribe. Hopefully a fresh episode weekly.

Sat down late last week and had the most incredible chat with Kieran Foran. A lot of you may be familiar with his story but this interview will surprise, challenge and inspire you. Kieran has had one amazing journey, full of success, adversity, darkness, courage and hope. We talk about how his battle to manage his head noise and rewrite the inner narrative enabled him to keep persevering when giving up and walking away was the easy option. I cannot wait to share this with you. Will be dropping on itunes, spotify and all the normal platforms later in the week. Look out for some teasers from the interview in the next few days.

About a year ago I had a conversation with a good friend around the work I do with athletes. He was telling me how that he wished their was someway we could learn from our highest performers around their mental processes on and off the field. He encouraged me to find a way to make this information known and accessible so anyone could learn from them.

This was the genesis of the Head Noise podcast. We often see people doing incredible things, but don't get an opportunity to peel back the layers and actually find out what makes them successful from a mental and emotional perspective. Head Noise takes us into this part of performance and gives it the attention it deserves.

On the first episode I interview arguably the fastest bowler in world cricket. Though revered in this part of the world, Lockie Ferguson showed how good he is by being the second leading wicket taker at the 2019 Cricket World Cup. He was a key member of the New Zealand Team who lost a heartbreaking and historic final.

We discuss this final, his love of Moro bars and his tendency to have some of the worst debuts you could imagine. I hope this will be insightful and enjoyable interview and the first of many.

Will be on itunes asap but here is a link to this episode, download and let me know your thoughts

Over the next few weeks I will be launching a podcast that explores the mental side of high performance. People often talk about importance of the top two inches when it comes to being at their best. However, there is not a lot of candidness and insight around the subject from the performer’s perspective. The goal of this podcast is to pull the curtain back and examine the mental skills on and off the stage of performance that enable pressure to be dealt with and the “head noise” to be silenced.
