"Believe in yourself." That is what we are told by not only the people we know, but from books, movies, superhero comics, you name it. We are told we can accomplish anything if we believe in ourselves. Except we know this isn't always true; we cannot accomplish everything simply through belief. However, one thing that you must always have belief in is yourself. Various studies have confirmed that self-esteem has a direct relationship with our overall well-being. Check out our article to find out more about how self-esteem impacts us!

"I adore it, I nestle it! It grows within me as the clouds of confusion over embracing my femininity clears in a distant horizon."

When some parts of the society has nefariously chosen to identify femininity with weakness, our generation of women may assume they are innately weak or that they must adopt masculine characteristics in order to be strong.

The Think Tank and Her Campus at Manipal calls upon all women to uphold their tenet and be proud of who they are.

If you’ve watched DDLJ your idea of love might be the yellow flower field, Simran and her wavy hair running towards Raj and his cliched guitar. This imagery overlooks every other important relationship this movie shows: Simran’s orthodox dad finally coming out of his shell to say “Jaa Simran, Jee le apni zindagi”. While this line is iconic to say the least, the love between the father and daughter is forgotten. This is what collapsing romance into love creates. In the last article of the themed week, read to unlearn our current notions of what love is.

Misogyny on television isn’t new to anyone. Bengali soap operas, which pick up on several elements started by the Ekta Kapoor brand of serials, seem to reflect upper and middle-class Bengali domesticity while essentially recycling the same tired old tropes that institutionalise your good old misogyny and casteism. In this article, we go through a few of these tropes and see how they can be internalised into harmful ideas and perceptions.
