FYI - Greetings Friends of the Uptown: In honor of Black Music Month, join us and WHYY on Thursday, June 20th @ 5:30 PM for "Echoes of the Uptown: Bridging the Past, Present and Future of Philly Music" as we celebrate Black Music Month with a screening, panel discussion, and dance mixer highlighting the legacy of the Uptown Theater, Black music, and the importance of Black arts and culture institutions in Philadelphia. FYI - With the slogan, “Community Radio at its Best,” Uptown Radio / WJYN 98.5 FM is a community-sponsored radio station under the ownership of the Uptown Entertainment & Development Corporation (UEDC). The station’s goal is to develop, produce, and sustain quality programming with an emphasis on North Central Philadelphia (NCP) and Philadelphia proper. Opportunities are available to artists, activists, scholars, entrepreneurs, returning citizens, youth, and other community groups to produce, underwrite, and host shows.
