Did Police Lie About The Cardiff Bike Crash?
Riots in Cardiff this week occurred following the death of two young teenage boys on an electric e-bike.
Police initially stated that no police vehicle was following the two boys, instead promoting their view that the riots started based on ‘false rumours’.
Many have blamed the two young men for their perceived anti-social activity, but many more have questioned the police’s role in a potential chase that some believe may have contributed to their deaths.

Lowkey Explains Israel’s Occupation of Palestine
Culture is a powerful element in the struggle to bring people together for a fairer world, in this case rap, as performed by the legendary artist Lowkey helps illuminate the international links between global suffering in the UK and the occupied Palestinian territory and its peoples.

Can the Climate Movement Bring People Together?
Climate change is an existential question for humanity, it doesn’t just affect one small corner of planet Earth, data indicates that it will affect us all.
So why is such a worldwide issue, as evidenced by the UN IPCC 2022 report, so polarising?
In rhetoric and policy around climate change, many stakeholders weaponise the issue for their own advantage, to win elections, to secure preferable treatment for their industrial sector, or simply to massage ego.
But what if instead of pulling us apart, the climate movement could unite us in a common goal, the safeguarding of our home, after all, Earth is the only home we have.

How One Law Helps Protect War Criminals
The Overseas Operations Act was passed in 2021, unfortunately there isn’t much coverage on YouTube or mainstream media outlets about it, despite its wide ranging potential impact on how the UK conducts warfare or overseas military operations.
Essentially the law prevents criminal prosecutions against British troops for crimes committed abroad over 5 years ago.
It also creates a 6 year time limit on bringing compensation claims for personal injury and/or death in relation to events outside the UK involving British troops.
This makes it more difficult to hold Ministers responsible too, the horizontal application of the legislation means those responsible for military activities, such as Members of Parliament may also escape responsibility.

Should We Tax The Rich More ?
The Sunday Times, in the middle of the ‘cost of living’ crisis released their top UK wealth list, with the richest being Hinduja Gopi and family with a net worth over £35 billion.
In total UK billionaire wealth totalled over £650 billion, more than the net worth of Sweden (according to Yahoo news estimates) and about a third of the net worth of Apple.
Meanwhile, real wages in the UK continued to be squeezed by low growth and productivity in addition to high inflation and low workforce investment.

Why Isn’t Britain Working ?
The number of people out of work due to long term sickness has risen exponentially, adding to a feeling of general malaise experienced by the whole country.
Real wages are falling, inflation is high, food is expensive and maybe, just maybe, that’s why people don’t feel too great.

Is Nationalism On the Rise?
From Suella Braverman’s speech at the National Conservatism Conference, to Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer’s joint pledges to “Stop the Boats” or ankle tagging migrants, the UK appears to be experiencing a shift toward authoritarianism.
This is reflected further in recent legislation, from the Public Order Bill, to the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act which all curtail protest rights to varying degrees.

What is ‘The Nakba’?
The Nakba, or ‘catastrophe’ is an event that first transpired 75 years ago, it involved the expulsion and fleeing of over 700,000 Palestinians, amidst the depopulation of 500 villages, the seizure of land and what many experts refer to as ethnic cleansing.
However, given there are currently over 5.9 million Palestinian refugees, denied the right of return, given a situation that Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and members of the UN have described as apartheid, many consider the Nakba an ongoing event, marked by the twin evils of dispossession and death.
The power is now in our hands, the hands of ordinary people, doing extraordinary things to stand with the Palestinians in solidarity, they will continue to resist in their homeland, so the least we can do is the same wherever we are.

How Does The UK Treat Nurses?
This International Nurse’s Day, is it fair to ask whether the UK is hypocritical when it comes to nurses ?
Respect for nurses in the UK is often codified in big and symbolic ways, from clapping on door steps during the pandemic to endless references to the NHS by the two main parties.
Yet, does it have any substance ? Despite an 8% real terms pay cut since 2010, nurses were only offered 5%. Despite constant promises of 40 new hospitals; even the hospital in Boris Johnson’s constituency continues to crumble.
What do you think ? Is The Government hypocritical to support International Nurse’s Day ?

Is Imran Khan’s Release Good for Democracy?
The former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, had his arrest overturned by the Supreme Court, which has now seen him released on bail for two weeks.
Khan has accused a powerful military-backed establishment for being behind an attempt to arrest him on suspected corruption.
Currently Khan’s PTI Party and the ruling coalition PDM are on a collision course, as the former calls for a general election sooner rather than later, even as the ruling coalition pushes to delay them as much as possible.
At the moment, Pakistan is still reeling from 55-year-record inflation, the social and economic impacts of the major flooding that occurred and political stability.

What Motivates You To Make Life Better ?
It can be difficult, sometimes, to remember the reasons why we want to make the world a better place.
One such solution to that difficult question surrounds us every day. In the lives of the people, plants and animals that we interact with all the time.
It’s these networks of life that sustain us, that pave the way forward to a better future and present for everyone.
Together, working in concert, focusing on what binds instead of what separates, we can change the world.
Of course our tactics will differ, we will make mistakes, but that doesn’t mean we’re not all in this together.
