Alam n'yo ba na ang mga psychological disabilities ay pasok sa coverage ng Magna Carta for disabled persons?

If you or others you know are suffering from mental illness- tulad ng ADHD, Bi-polar disorder, recurring depression, nervous breakdown, epilepsy, schizophrenia, at iba pang long term recurring mental problems, please know na kasama ang psychosocial disabilities sa coverage ng Magna Carta for Disabled Persons.

Sa batas na ito, mayroon kayong 20% discount and exemption from Value-Added Tax sa mga restaurant, sa pagbili ng gamot at pagkuha ng iba pang medical services. Makakatulong ito na bawasan kahit papaano ang gastos niyo, at ma-access ang tamang treatment na kinakailangan.

Kailangan lang kumuha ng PWD ID mula sa Persons with Disability Affairs Office (o PDAO) sa inyong LGU, at i-submit ang general requirements:

(1) Certificate of Disability mula sa doktor;
(2) Valid Government ID/Proof of residence; at
(3) ID pictures.

Kung may PWD ID na, pero ayaw ibigay ang discounts ayon sa batas- may penalty na multa o pagkakakulong para sa persons responsible.

Sa mga wala namang disability, pero gustong abusuhin ‘ang benefits sa batas, may ganoong parusa rin para d’yan.

I-encourage natin ang mga kilala natin to get help, kung kailangan.

Sa mga abusado naman- mental illness may be invisible to you, but it is very real to those suffering.’Wag na sana nating pahirapan yung sistemang nakakatulong sa totoong may kailangan.

“While FLAG is greatly relieved that Dr. Naty is now back at home with her family after being unlawfully arrested and detained for over a month, we remain deeply concerned with the manner by which Dr. Naty was seized from her home and transported incommunicado without assistance of counsel and support from her family. This was in violation of her rights as well as existing laws (RA 7438, RA 10353, RA 9745), which the PNP, as an institution, should be accountable for. We are also gravely disturbed at the continuous and systematic red tagging of Dr. Castro by government agents using government funds and resources, which violates her fundamental rights as well as existing laws.”

STATEMENT OF THE FREE LEGAL ASSISTANCE GROUP (FLAG) ON THE DISMISSAL OF THE CASE AGAINST DR. NATY CASTRO

The Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) welcomes the dismissal by the Regional Trial Court of Bayugan, Agusan Del Sur (Branch 7) of the case against Dr. Naty Castro. FLAG, through Atty. Fred Asis (its regional coordinator for the CARAGA region) assisted by volunteer lawyers from the region, filed the motion that the court granted.

While FLAG is greatly relieved that Dr. Naty is now back at home with her family after being unlawfully arrested and detained for over a month, we remain deeply concerned with the manner by which Dr. Naty was seized from her home and transported incommunicado without assistance of counsel and support from her family. This was in violation of her rights as well as existing laws (RA 7438, RA 10353, RA 9745), which the PNP, as an institution, should be accountable for. We are also gravely disturbed at the continuous and systematic red tagging of Dr. Castro by government agents using government funds and resources, which violates her fundamental rights as well as existing laws.


The dismissal of Dr. Naty’s case for failure to accord her due process should shine a light on existing practices during preliminary investigation by the Department of Justice and the issuance of warrants by the trial courts. It should also call attention to extrajudicial efforts to influence the courts by government agents through red-tagging.
