Van Gogh in the Mid-Atlantic: 21 DC/MD/VA Paintings - a FREE Online Program

Vincent Van Gogh in the Mid-Atlantic: 21 DC/MD/VA Paintings - a FREE Online Program via Zoom! Vincent Van Gogh ’s career as an artist spanned the final ten years of his life (1853-1890). During that time he created 866 oil paintings, 21 of which are physically located at five museums in the Mid-Atlantic region: Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia. Join us for an educational and entertaining online/virtual program to learn more about Vincent’s life and legacy by reviewing his 21 Mid-Atlantic paintings. We’ll see his development as an artist, and also compare and contrast the DC-MD-VA works to several of his other well-known paintings. Also, during the modern era there have been six major films made on Vincent’s life. For fun our program will include a few short clips from some of these films, particularly as they relate to the 21 Mid-Atlantic paintings, which are physically located at the following museums: The National Gallery of Art: Washington, DC = 10 paintings The Phillips Collection: Washington, DC = 3 paintings The Baltimore Museum of Art: Baltimore, MD = 3 paintings The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts: Richmond, VA = 3 paintings The Kreeger Museum: Washington, DC = 2 paintings You host for this program is Robert Kelleman , the founder/director of the non-profit community organization Washington, DC History & Culture . Robert earned an art history degree from the University of Michigan, spent the first two years of his career at the Detroit Institute of Arts, previously made a pilgrimage to Europe to see the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. This online/virtual program is complementary to the Vincent Van Gogh tours that Robert hosts at the National Gallery of Art. Future programs we’ll be hosting on TBD dates in the future include Frida Kahlo, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Georgia O’Keeffe. __________________________ Zoom Meeting Info: The FREE program is open to all, and since it’s an online/virtual event via Zoom you can connect from anywhere in the world. To participate simply click the connection info which will be provided via email a day or so beforehand and you can connect via desktop, laptop, mobile devices or similar.
