Eidsvold Boxing Club is looking forward to a great year

Thank you to our Eidsvold community who turned out to enjoy a movie night and support the Boxing Club on Tuesday. We raised $540 that will now be used to donate to our local kids going away to sport. A massive thank you from the team at EBC and we look forward to making our movie nights a regular thing.

⚠️ Road Condition Update ⚠️

1️⃣ Crews are prioritising assessing the condition of highways and main roads for damage.
2️⃣ Local roads will be assessed in the coming days.

‼️ Council urges property owners to refrain from undertaking any repairs to damaged roads. We can appreciate how frustrating this will be for some landowners, having experiencing significant damage to property twice in just a few weeks. However, it is important that Council undertakes detailed assessments so that we can report to the State Government and advocate for assistance to help cover the cost of repairs due to a natural disaster. ‼️

⚠️ Please contact the SES on 132 500 if you require assistance.
⚠️ For local and state controlled road conditions visit https://emergency.northburnett.qld.gov.au/

Young children in particular may have trouble processing their experiences of the rain and floods, because their language skills are still developing. This can make it challenging for adults to identify and respond to their emotional needs.

Birdie’s Tree Universal Resources are designed to support expectant and new parents, infants, young children and families in relation to natural disasters and disruptive events.

On Fri 11th March, Wide Bay Hospital & Health Service will be hosting an online training workshop on how to use the Birdie’s Tree resources. We will focus particularly on therapeutic storytelling using the Birdie books, with “Birdie and The Flood” as an example.

See the flyer for further information.

⚠️ Road Condition Update ⚠️

The following roads are CLOSED to travellers:
🚧 Isis Highway (Biggenden – Childers)
🚧 Booyal -Dallarnil Road
🚧 Gooroolba – Biggenden Road
🚧 Maryborough – Biggenden Road
🚧 Gayndah – Goomeri Road

Only local traffic is permitted to travel on these roads. Local traffic are people who live along these roads and require access to their property or residences. This is for the safety of all road users.

Road closures will be reassessed and updated on the dashboard late this afternoon - https://emergency.northburnett.qld.gov.au/

⚠️ Barambah Creek at the Burnett Highway (outside of Gayndah) has been sitting steadily since around 2pm yesterday at around 5m under the bridge.

50mm of rain fell in the Barambah Creek catchment last night, which should not result in the bridge becoming inundated. The situation will continue to be monitored and if conditions change we will advise the community.

A reminder, property owners should not be carrying out any repairs on Council roads. If you are unable to exit your property due to the road conditions, please contact us on 1300 696 272. Council had deployed crews to assess damage as water recedes and conditions improve.

Kate Jenkins has made some shocking findings in her report today.

40% of women working in our nation's parliamentary workplaces have experienced sexual harassment.

This is just unacceptable.

Labor sincerely thanks Ms Jenkins and Australian Human Rights Commission staff for their diligent work.

And we thank the hundreds of people who gave very personal testimony.

We are committed to working across the Parliament to improve working conditions and changing the culture of the parliamentary workplace.

Everyone deserves to be safe and respected in this workplace. In every workplace.

Neve is the only woman in the warehouse – for now. We met at Berg Engineering in Gladstone last week.

In the middle of completing of her heavy vehicle apprenticeship, Neve says there’s a lot of theory to learn before you can safely drive a large vehicle with heavy cargo.

Labor wants more apprentices like Neve – it’s part of our plan for jobs. Because good trainees make good businesses.

Over the past eight years of Liberal Government, numbers have gone backwards by more than 140,000.

Under Labor’s Australian Skills Guarantee, one in ten jobs on federally-funded projects will be an apprentice, trainee or cadet.
