I feel like in today’s times, we’re working hard to expand our minds to build understanding between ourselves and other people. Different generations are learning how to break out of traditional thought patterns and beliefs that have typically resulted in division.

Having interviewed folks before on these topics of identity and psychedelic-assisted therapy, I wanted to explore the conversation more about different psychedelic practices and how it influences the perception of ourselves 🪬🔮

Today's episode is an exciting exploration into the world of psychedelics and how they might help people break inhibitive thought patterns and be a more inclusive tool for well-being.

My special guest, Greg Spivak is an optimal health coach who works with clients using various lifestyle practices, breathwork, meditation, nutrition, movement, mindset, and even psychedelics such as microdosing 💊🩺

Think back to a time you were meeting someone for the first time. What did this person do? What did this person say? More specifically, what did they do or say to make you think a certain way about them?

In this epidose of SeroTunein, I go solo to explain the Fundamental Attribution Error: a common cognitive bias in which we judge others on their personality or fundamental character, but we judge ourselves on the situation. I start out by defining the bias, sharing a personal story where I experienced the bias, and I wrap up by quickly discussing why it's important and how we can mitigate the error in our own lives.

Sometimes I find that the more time I spend thinking or talking about where I like to be and what the perfect scenario would be, it rarely turns out how I imagined it in my head. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to have dreams and goals, but the time I spend creating things in my head doesn’t always lead to me actualizing them.

This is where writing my ideas in a sketchbook then clearing my mind over a walk really made a difference for me. I also try to check off an activity that makes some sort of progress in getting me closer to that dream. Like a camera, I’m learning to capture the image I want and develop it over time.
