Liverpool, Real Madrid's next Champions League opponents, were victorious away to Newcastle in their Premier League matchday 24 fixture. The visitors won thanks to first-half goals from Darwin Núñez and Gakpo in a game they played against ten men for 68 minutes.
Liverpool needed just two minutes to take the lead through Darwin Nuñez. Seven minutes later, Gakpo scored to make it 2-0. Although goalkeeper Nick Pope was sent off in the 22nd minute, Liverpool were unable to extend their lead. With this win, Klopp's side have now won their tenth league game and remain in mid-table on 35 points.
