Autumn nature at Lauriston Castle🍂🍁

Lauriston is a late 16th-century tower house, extended in 1824. The interiors hold a collection of 18th-century Italian furniture, Derbyshire Blue John, carpets, clocks, porcelain, tapestries, and decorative art. The castle is set in 30 acres of parkland and gardens, offering wonderful views across the Firth of Forth.

Lauriston is the perfect place to escape from the bustle of the city centre. Enjoy a woodland walk, a visit to the award-winning Japanese garden, or step back in time and experience what life was like in an Edinburgh middle-class home at the beginning of the 20th century.

This Hardie home in San Diego was designed by Derek Berg, owner of MADesign and Drafting Services. For Derek, a successful home design should make homeowners feel like they're on vacation every day.

Exterior design plays a vital role in creating homes that feel right and comfortable for homeowners. Derek, who has been using Hardie siding for 23 years, sees people drawn to texture and layering. He often uses Hardie Trim for striking details.

The Garfield Park Fieldhouse was designed by Michaelsen & Rognstad, masters of using terra cotta to create masterful and dense decorative details. Something like the intricate entrance would have been prohibitively expensive in stone, but the easy sculptability and moldability of terra cotta made this type of ornament possible for a municipal building.

The Wren Building at the College of William & Mary is the oldest academic building still in use in the United States. George Washington was chancellor of the college. The building is currently used for classes and special events and is also open to visitors for tours. James Monroe, Thomas Jefferson, John Tyler, and John Marshall were all educated in the building during their respective times. From a masonry perspective, it is an incredible structure. It is a Flemish bond with glazed headers, rubbed work, rubbed and gauged arches, struck joints, etc. Read more at https://buff.ly/3uTQXGn.
