HAPPY FRIGGIN JUNETEENTH!!! ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
Admittedly, this is my first year giving this holiday the attention it deserves. If you haven’t taken the time to on , PLEASE DO. Search the hashtag, hit up google, or read through my post from earlier this week. You’re a capable white person, I know it. As much as I love the social gatherings, parades, BBQs, and fireworks that come along with , this is not the day in our nations history of true .... that came 89 years later. Today deserves all the same recognition and celebration (if not more) as the federal holiday coming up in 2 weeks 🥳🎉🎊
How can you celebrate you might ask? There’s still SO much work to do in regards to ending racial injustice in the US. Consider making a donation to Equal Justice Initiative ! How about $19 to align with the date?! That’s not too much to ask and that’s what I can afford today. Who’s with me?! Keeping up with the trend of continuous donations here on the pod.
Lastly, I’m reposting this from The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights which has an important link in their bio. Click it and you can easily contact your local reps about , which is the Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African American Act. The act aims to create a commission to examine the merits of introducing reparations of slavery in the US. I already sent my email to , will you send an email to your local rep?!

Fight for racial justice this . America’s history of slavery and racial discrimination has yet to be fully addressed. Now, as the movement for racial justice surges through our nation, let’s change the narrative. Tell your representatives they MUST pass H.R. 40 — a critical piece of legislation that would support reparations for African Americans. It’s our best chance to finally come to terms with our country’s history, make long overdue amends — and secure a more just future. Transformative change can’t wait any longer. CLICK THE LINK IN BIO to tell your reps to support H.R. 40.
