This conversation had nothing to do with a career or social justice, but about Marriage and the stance Nana took as a wife. She told me early on that this role is far from easy, but the fruit is beyond worth the challenges. She taught never to run away, but to put on my “big girl pants” and push on towards the goal.

When I think about my role as wife, I remember how delicate and confident Nana was in hers. I take that memory with me and thank God for her example and inspiration.

Always in my heart 💙

It’s important for us to have strong examples of in our communities, because the narrative is dead set on telling another story.

Who was, or is, your inspiration for marriage?

One of the areas we struggle in with our marriage is building furniture 🪑together! We remember this day vividly, because at this point, Mia decided to stop arguing and let me finish the desk. That came after a couple hours of wrestling to get the thing together, while also fighting each other in the process 😂

But, in the end Mia has a beautiful desk to work in peace 🌱 (pictured last)

I realized that in Marriage we struggle and fight, and even need moments where we step away to breath and give the other a break. Breaks do not mean giving up, they mean some space to create a more beautiful ending🖤 @ Middletown, Delaware
