My heart is turned towards Lisbon today.

I got to visit the beautiful land of Portugal for the first time this summer and soak in heaven’s heart for the nation.

I’m continually learning to align my heart for people and places with God’s heartbeat for them. I’m always surprised to find how misaligned my first impressions can be due to superficial things — like familiarity. Familiarity often gives us a false sense of safety so we never give ourselves the opportunity to embrace the new and unknown.

Something unfamiliar is happening today in Lisbon. There will be a great gathering organized by Protestants and Catholics (together!) to share the love of Jesus with this generation. It’s happening in Lisbon’s Stadium of Light.

It’s happening both in person and virtually (again I say — don’t despise or fear technology, have the wisdom and fortitude to leverage it to disciple nations!).

I’m standing in prayer for this gathering - I feel like it’s more than a single event, it’s a marker in time — a new day is unfolding.

Jesus prayed,
“that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You. May they also be in Us so that the world may believe that You have sent me.
I in them and You in Me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent Me and have loved them even as you have loved Me.”
‭‭[John‬ ‭17‬:‭21‬, ‭23‬]

Amen ✨

Field notes from the Secret Place (jet lag creates space for captivating communion) …

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”
‭‭[Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭29‬-‭31‬]

I 💛 this new song by Caroline Hausmann Music !

18/04/2023

Yesterday we had a situation arise that tried to strip the joy from a huge milestone we were celebrating.

Odds are you’ve had something like that happen to you too. What should have been a day to enjoy became a day to endure.

I know there are others who are dealing with the pain of injustice. I want to sow some victorious encouragement into you right now.

When we got some not-so-happy news that threatened our sense of peace, I heard God encourage me in my spirit to “celebrate anyway.”

He then reminded me of a teaching I gave about the power of celebration in 2019 at a women’s conference. This was not some topical teaching (you all know I don’t teach theory). This teaching was a summary of a remarkable journey God was taking me on.

I was very excited to share it. But just days before ministering at this conference our family received devastating news.

I was crushed and I had only a few days to decide if I was still going to still show up and minister.

At first, I felt an enormous pressure to still show up and prove something.

But God swiftly interrupted that destructive thinking.

“Linds, you don’t have to prove anything. This is about me proving something to you.”

Here’s what is so mind-boggling about that statement that I don’t want you to miss. God doesn’t have to prove anything to me. He is who He says He is whether I believe it or not. He’s God! Creator of the universe. He could shut the whole world down tomorrow and no one could stop Him. Yet, He chooses to bind Himself to us in a loving covenant relationship and promises to never leave us nor forsake us. And He continues to gift us with promise after promise to prove His goodness and faithfulness to us.

And I still sometimes falter. All because this puny, already-defeated enemy, satan, comes around with the smoke and mirrors of temporary devastation trying to distract me from the permanent victory I have in Christ. What a joke.

I did show up that weekend. I did teach and minister. But not through any exhausting self-empowerment effort. Not to prove anything. I was solely empowered that weekend by God’s love for me. And God was magnificently good to me in the middle of all the chaos that was swirling that weekend and beyond. But I never watched the recording of the teaching. I never wanted to revisit that week again.

Until yesterday when God said, “You should watch that teaching from 2019.”

I reluctantly hit play and braced myself for the pain of that week to come flooding back. But something else happened instead. Instead of pain, I remembered the feeling of standing on that stage totally encapsulated by God’s unrelenting love and unrestrained joy. It was glorious.

Instead of the past injustice compounding on the present injustice, I was set free from it all. As a family, we reclaimed our day of enjoyment and celebrated fully. Intimidation can't survive in the atmosphere of thanksgiving.

I’m sharing this teaching from the archives with you as a stone of remembrance to God’s abundant goodness. As my journey with Him has continued to unfold these past few years my language has been clarified and upgraded, but it all remains true.

Do not hesitate to celebrate.

10/04/2023

It’s not a condemning question.
It’s an invitational one.

I can hear heaven still asking us this question…

when we seek to find our lives in

dead systems, dead seasons
dead religion, dead rituals
positions, possessions, platforms

When we let what is temporary overshadow what is eternal.

When we cling to old mindsets and old missions.

When we allow criticism and worldly hot takes to define us and direct us.

Why?

It’s not a condemning question.
It’s an invitational one (probably asked by the angel with a smile and joy-filled tone that one typically has when sharing good news).
It’s an invitation to be free from all the lifeless objects that always end up objectifying us.

Holy Week has come and gone, but we remain wholly connected to Christ here and now, and forever.

He made it so. And the way it started is the way it is sustained.

We love BECAUSE He FIRST loved us.
Not the other way around.
Never the other way around!

Have you started this new week attempting to make yourself more lovable?
That’s like trying to refill an emptied tomb.

Stay free ✨

In this episode, Ashley shares her testimony of overcoming severe anxiety and depression. A journey that included help from doctors and medication.

There’s a lot of debate and questions circulating the internet about whether or not Christians should use tools like medication and therapy. BUT I have never heard what Ashley shares in this episode.

I believe the way she humbly and gently clarifies what her process looked like is going to set you free.

I know that this is a very divisive topic because people carry a lot of pain on both sides of the debate. Maybe you’ve been hurt, misinformed, or made to feel inferior by one group or another because of whatever decision you made.

Shame, condemnation, and inferiority are not your inheritance in Christ. You do not have to live with any of that any longer.

My prayer is this episode reminds you of your power and position in Christ.

07/03/2022

In this episode I share a familiar story from John 5 that I am seeing through fresh eyes.

When it comes to the promises of God, I want them all instantly. But God wants them for us permanently. So in His kindness He made us one with Jesus.

There is a permanence to our newness because we are now permanently one with Christ. And so all of life here on earth is about discovering and experiencing who we actually are in Him. And it goes beyond just a one-time result or outcome — it’s a continuous overcoming in every arena of life.

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed IN us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be REVEALED.” [Romans 8:18-29]

God’s dream for humanity is unfolding IN His sons and daughters — that’s you and me!

We are NEW creations.
We are ONE with Jesus Christ.
We are being TRANSFORMED into God’s image with EVER-INCREASING glory.

Don’t forget who you are. BELIEVE who you are.
It’s time to reveal the eternal to the temporary.

14/02/2022

We were not called to live a Christian life, we were given a life to live IN Christ.

This is not a life with a Christian badge on it (that’s religion). It’s SO much better!

This is not a life we can earn by loving God more, it’s a life He freely gave us because of His love for us.

It’s time we rest in God’s affection for us and live the life Jesus died for us to have.

The Posture of Peace

My friend Hannah asked her social media followers if anyone knew of a super short podcast that could give her a pep talk for the day ahead. She was just looking for a short, audible fist bump in her ear to remind her God is in everything.

I thought, I’d sure like to have a podcast like that too.

So I made us a podcast called Posture.

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are leaning on You, because they trust in You. [Isaiah 26:3]
