Sometimes its just nice to stop what you're doing and paint yourself a dwarf warrior. So I did! This was painted using mainly all Fanatic paints, and served me well as a little palet cleanser.

The dead shambles on, relentless and uncaring. They grow legion to flood and devour the Old World. And thus, I've added a unit of kitbashed Grave Guard to my undead horde, as well as two units of Ghouls! Oh, and a little Wight Lord to help lead the army when they venture out for their first battle this Friday!

So it finally happened. I cracked. Listening to the Hive Scum podcast gushing about Mordheim and with the release of Old World, the stars had aligned and I took the nostalgia bait - which means that I'm now on my way to having an undead army. On square bases. For rank and flanking!

The plan going forward is to build up a force of around 1500 points worth of figures for a Vampire Counts army and get stuck in to play some games with good friends of mine, whilst figuring out how to round it off to a nice even 2000 points.

There's going to be kitbashing, proxies and conversions a plenty throughout the army - and an emphasis on speed painting. Which is also why I started out with these 40 zombies. Not only was it to get them out of the way, but also to sort of set the tone and look for the whole army, so I had something to measure up against.

Anyway - I can't wait to get them all done and finished, and I am going to share my progress here as I get further stuck in down the line!

In between my ventures into the grimdark future, I also go into other grim futures where giant mechs fire brightly colored lasers at one and another for honor and salvage rights!

That's right, I'm talking BattleTech and here's another of my mercenary lances that I'm painting up for the game. This time around I went for a turquoise (yum) and cream palette, set against a rusty desert with a lot of pigment powders for good measure.

Next in line will be a mercenary lance in camouflage colors, as well as a heavy hitter lance to take on a Clan star... which also needs to get some colors on them soon. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you liked my little Lance :D

I recently got bit, hard, by the kitbashing bug. And seeing as I needed a unit of Crusaders for my Sister of Battle, along with the wonderful worldbuilding going on for Vasterian - I got out my clippers and plastic cement and went to town!

Had a lot of fun putting all manner of bits together, using a lot of Frostgrave and Stargrave stuff especially for a lot of the more feudal aspects, whilst grimdarkening it up with some choice leftover bits from various GW kits I've put together recently.

The paintjob itself was an experiment into using Streaking Grime from AK interactive - and even though I loved how these turned out, I'm still getting the hang of it. Especially during the "my god, what have I done"-stage when they're covered in it.

Anyway - thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Now I just need to find something else that would be fun to kitbash!

Just a quick little post - and paintjob! I started to paint this little army this Wednesday, and finished them today just in time for the game they are going to take part in tonight! Let's just say there's been a bit of a painting frenzy at the desk of late 😅

Boo! I'm not dead, but these poor Nighthaunts certainly are! I've been experimenting with some various fun new enamel products, and wanted to share what I've found. They were good test subjects, and quite fun to mess around with... might even start a small warband for them down the line.

As a bit of a pallet cleanser, from painting all those mechs, I had a go at painting up this warband for Warhammer Underworlds. These sculpts are absolutely amazing, but I had a hell of a time getting them painted.

But I did have fun trying out the Vallejo model Dark & Light Rust washes, and can fully recommend them for something slightly different finish to your rusty armor and weapons!

Another week, another lance for BattleTech!

This time around I had fun using colours that I don't normally use (or at least, not use as often) for this colour scheme. The main brown is the old Parasite Brown from Vallejo Game Color, and the secondary blue color is Steel Grey from the same brand.

I'm looking forward to fielding them later today, as I'm heading out for a real-life game of BattleTech! Wish me luck, and thank you for stopping by this post :D

Finally - my complete nest of all things Veermyn are ready to take to the battlefields of and wag their tails in style!

I set a goal back at the start of the year to have all of these finished before Horisont Con in the middle of May, along with some more terrain to make a cool playable board.

Now, one part of that promise has been finished, it's time to crack on to adding some more terrain and get a cool looking board ready!

Thanks for stopping by, and hope you enjoy these little rats as much as I enjoyed painting them!

Till the next update from the painting desk, may your dice roll well and the hairs on your brush never split - oh, and send more cheese! 🐁

Aah, is there anything more gorgeous than a Trish Morrison sculpt, and the joy of painting it?

I took a little break from my Speedpaint testing, and the painting of Veer-Myn, to just have a little fun painting this wonderful oldhammer figure from start to finish.

However, I tried using Speedpaints in various ways; such as applying the Zealot Yellow over True Copper for the belt, and for the plume on top of the helmet.

The big take away was thinning down Graveyard Grey, Crusader Skin and Palid Bone with water and using them as a wash! Especially loved the effect of using the watered down grey and skin for the metals and skin, respectively - will look into that some more for sure!

EDIT: I had mistaken this sculpt by Trish Morrison for one of Jes Goodwin! Have now corrected the post. It's still a classic and a joy to paint, regardless of sculptor :D

What is that you say? You wanted to see more fun stuff you can do with Speedpaint? Well, with great delight, let me show you what I've been testing out recently using 24 goblins, 7 hours and some washes.

My idea was to test out how adding a wash of, say, Soft tone or Dark Skin Wash over a white primer, and its effects on Speedpaints on top. And the results were quite great I have to say.

The idea being that Speedpaints, due to how they're supposed to work, are very bright and bold - which can also leave them looking rather cartoony and slightly unnatural.

However, by applying the various washes that I used here, such as Strong and Soft tone, you can desaturate the white primer slightly, but without removing its brightness - a key ingredient in making Speedpaints do their job.

That way, you end up with slightly more natural looking colors, that are still brighter at the higher points, and darker still in the recesses because of the washes.

All in all, a great project - oh and I timed it as well, clocking in at 7 hours of painting time for 24 goblins. That's damn fast, especially for me :D

So, around five years later, I finally found the courage to finish up these overly detailed Goliaths for Necromunda - primarily by using The Army Painter new line of Speedpaints!

It was fun to finally just do some miniatures to a nice finish without having to mess around too much, especially some that are as cluttered with details as these.

I'm going to work on a how to article on my upcoming webpage, but for now I'd like to share the finished miniatures and say that I really, really dig this new line of paints!

Just a quick showcase of what fun things you can do with Speedpaints and various undercoats.

The first picture shows the figure with basecoats of Azure Magic and Zephyr Pink. The next is the same model, with a coat of Zealot Yellow applied all over those surfaces.

Same goes for the crossbow and leather, which had an undercoat of Desert Yellow and Fur Brown each, before applying a coat of Hardened Leather.

This stuff is just great fun! 🥳

🎵 With a rat in the cradle and a silver ram / little Tunnel Runner is ready to jam 🎵

As I'm gearing up to run a lot of demo games and a small campaign of Deadzone at this year's Horisont Con - I wanted to include at least one Tunnel Runner in my Veermyn warbands, and here's the results of my painting labours the last couple of days :D

Currently, I need to paint at least a rat a day to get ready, so there's going to be a flurry of activity as I'm getting all of my wittle wrat-men finished!

// TO THE NON-DANISH SPEAKERS:

Hi! I'm going to start streaming again over on twitch.tv, and have lined up these old-school miniatures for that very purpose.

However, I've also had a bit of a think on the nature of language (/pocket-philosophy) and what I'm going to do with it, in regards to all of this onlinery.

So - going forward, all streams over on twitch.tv will be in danish, whilst any future videos on YouTube (once I get around to that again) will be in english.

Thanks for reading along, and let's see if I can get my ass back in gear and make some more videos for y'all :D

06/08/2021

So... I did a thing. This last week I've been busily typing away, and can now finally present to you v1.0 of the Oathmark repository for Battlescribe!

It includes all of the units from the core book, and the kingdom building aspect as well - provided that you choose the "Kingdom List". The other lists are for one-off games, using a single kingdom list from the book.

In the coming weeks I should be able to get the additional units typed up, such as the Undead and the Halflings and what not - and hopefully be able to go through all of the errata and fix up any mistakes on my part.

If you're using Battlescribe Gallery, it should be available from BSData for your perusal. Otherwise, the following link should take you to the files in question.

https://github.com/BSData/oathmark

So, I hope that you can use this for your future games of Oathmark - I know I certainly will. And when you stumble upon any bugs, do let me know in some capacity so that they can be fixed.

Happy gaming everyone! May your Kingdoms conquer all!

Oathmark. Contribute to BSData/oathmark development by creating an account on GitHub.
