Went to go view some vinyl records in Landsdown and on the way back got myself horribly lost somewhere between Ottery & Wetton. It's quite scary driving at night in the mist on a road you don't know with the petrol flashing reserve. Next thing I am in Strandfontein road where I put in petrol and found a turnoff to Wynberg and then I was OK..Was much worse 4 years ago when my car broke down at the intersection of Strandfontein and Klip road around midnight..Managed to limp to a garage and Simone called a tow truck but I sat in my car in gangland for 45 minutes.. Not so bad tonight though still scary..Could not use my GPS either as I was put of data.... Jip, the road is much longer at night, especially on the Cape Flats at night if you don't know where you are.. ;)

Special encounters between Mara, the reticulated giraffe and Sarara guide, Kalamon Pakiyio.

If you look closely, you will notice that Mara only has one ear. She was attacked by hyena at night, while her parents were not around. We rescued and hand-raised her here at Sarara and today she roams freely across the conservancy.

Mara also became a mother recently! We are yet to meet her calf as she hasn't brought her along during her visits to Sarara just yet. We all look forward to the day that happens!
