US data storage solutions company Seagate is to pay $300m to US authorities for violating export laws by selling hard disk drives to Chinese tech firm Huawei. The US Department of Commerce placed Huawei on its Entity List in 2019, which banned the company from buying parts and components from US firms without US government approval. Despite the addition of a new rule in August 2020, Seagate sold 7.4 million hard disk drives worth over $1.1bn to Huawei until September 2021, making it the sole supplier of this equipment. Seagate will pay the fine in $15m increments every quarter for five years.

T-Mobile has introduced two new plans, Go5G and Go5G Plus, offering customers the chance to upgrade their phones every two years. Software engineer Federico Viticci has created a shortcut called S-GPT that enables users to integrate ChatGPT into iOS, iPadOS, macOS and watchOS. To use the shortcut fully, users need to set up a pay-as-you-go pricing plan with OpenAI. S-GPT uses OpenAI's developer API and can also work with ChatGPT 3.5 or ChatGPT 4. Samsung has enabled skin temperature measurement on its Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch5 Pro models after obtaining regulatory approval, which took eight months.
