BREAKING | The Marikina City Government, led by Mayor Marcy Teodoro, ensured to take legal action against DroneTech Philippines after displaying the Philippine flag with interchanged colors in a drone show during the closing ceremony of Palarong Pambansa 2023 at Marikina Sports Center, August 5.
Right after the said issue, the local government unit (LGU) of Marikina City released their official statement: "Sa nasabing Drone Show ay nagkaroon ng pagkakamali sa formation ng bandila ng Pilipinas kung saan pula ang nasa ibabaw at asul ang nasa ibaba. Mariing kinondena ng Marikina City Government sa pangunguna ni Mayor Marcy Teodoro ang pangyayari at pinapakasuhan ang Dronetech PH upang madetermina ang mga legal na pananagutan ng kumpanya kasama na rin ang mga kalakip na kaparusahan at multa," the city government said in a Facebook post.
Yesterday, August 6, DroneTech apologized to the city government of Marikina and Mayor Teodoro for the "grave" error during the show.
"We would like to clarify that this error in the Drone Show programming, which was supposed to be tested days before could have been noticed and corrected was not successfully done due to severe weather conditions and signal interference on the said area for several nights." said DroneTech Philippines in their official statement released. "As God is our witness, we have innocently made this mistake and have no malice and bad intentions on anyone and the people of Marikina and the Philippines as whole," they added.
The closing celebration for Palaro 2023 ended with a blast and successfully turned over the hosting to Cebu City for next year's event.
