The Garden
Kiss My Superbowl Ring
The Garden have once again knocked out it out of the park with their latest record. "Kiss my superbowl ring" is reminiscent of their older records, but amped up in every way. The drums go hard and fast, the electronic parts are wacky and wild, the guitar, is as bizarre as you can imagine. Yes, the Garden twins have added the guitar to this album, as opposed to the drum and bass driven music of the past. So for those who found The Garden through their single with Mac Demarco, this album would be a great place to start listening. Back on the album as a whole though, the tracks on this album vary from punk to hip hop and anything else the twins decided to squish together. The twins aren't afraid to get weird, angry and real on this album. One track, AMPM Truck, is about their own near death expiernce with falling asleep at the wheel. This album is kinda the first glimpse past their concept of vada vada and into more personal subjects. They've still kept the outlandish creatures and settings of vada vada though, as can be found in their promos for the album, along with the music video for Clench to stay awake, which was just released. As for my favorite track, I can't say because it changes with each listen, depending on the mood I'm in and the way a song makes me manipulate that emotion into something else. If you need something to get you through quarantine, here is one of many albums I'll be suggesting to listen to.

This album is a total ride the whole way through. It fluctuates between being a noisy jam album to a gentle soft spoken record, and it all flows together so well you hardly notice. The sound is a complex jazz influenced hard rock that will have you contemplating life and then banging your head right along to the beat. My personal favorite track is "Near DT, MI" about the water crisis in Flint Michigan. I'm truely impressed that these guys all the way from London are concered with issues like these all the way in the states. It just goes to show human compassion has no borders. If you're looking for something new, I'd definetly gibe these guys a try, this is their one and only full album, and there seems to be a lot more to come with their singles that have been coming out.
