Let's talk about where I started 4 years ago, I.. 👇

I know how confusing it is when you see all these tips an tricks online saying 👇

➡️ Do X to get more followers
➡️ Short form videos are better than long form
➡️ Best trending audios for business owners
➡️ Always add captions when talking on reels
➡️ Don't post more than 15 stories a day

How I went from cold messaging clients to clients reaching out to work with me 🥳👇

When I first started working for myself, all my new clients and work came from word of mouth

And although I built up ongoing and lovely relationships with these clients, I was still looking for more work ❤️

But every time I would message a potential client on LinkedIn / Insta I would👇

❌ Get ghosted
❌ Be told we don't need support right now
❌ Them replying saying I'll add you to our contact list and get back to you

And I would never hear from them again 👻

So I decided to start posting on social media to get clients coming to me

So what I worked on was:

🌟 Market research - What desires and pain points do my clients have, how can I help them? What are they looking for? How can I solve their problems?
🌟 Having a clear content strategy so everything I post was relevant to my industry
🌟 Block out time - my own marketing is just as important and I let this slip, especially during busy periods

Stop only focusing on trends if you actually want to make sales through Instagram reels 👇

There are so many experts out there telling you to just focus on creating content based around trends and you'll be fine

And I completely disagree! ❌

When really, to grow your engagement and views on reels you need to be considering these various factors:

🌟 Creativity
🌟 Originality
🌟 Storytelling
🌟 Engagement

Be unique and think outside the box when creating your next reel. Put yourself in you audiences shoes, would you stop scrolling to watch your content?

👉 Just like my client who struggled to get any client interest from her reels. She was posting consistently but fell
into the trap of listening to everyone tell her to just to base her content around trends

She was left confused and overwhelmed by being told too many different things 🤷‍♀️

I simplified her reels strategy and created a batch of valuable and engaging monthly reels that kept her audience watching past the 3 second mark (which the Insta algorithm loves) ✨💫

It’s crazy to think I was in Florida this time last week for a Content Shoot Day in Tampa! 🌴🌞🇺🇸

I bet you’re thinking, why did I go all the way to America for 2 days?

My lovely client of 4 years has usually had a great stream of enquires through, but the last few months, interest had started to quieten down..

They were experiencing:

❌ Low engagement rates
❌ Getting ghosted in the DM’s
❌ Worrying about becoming less relevant in the market

In the last year, my clients UK company had expanded into the US market - which is AMAZING!!

But they weren’t reaching those dream clients in the US 👉 And this is why we decided to plan a content shoot day and meet up with the US team in Tampa, Florida where their office is based

👉 They needed to grab their audiences attention but hadn’t been able to achieve this as they had no content to prove they were taken seriously in the US

We had recently conducted a content shoot day with their UK team and ALREADY they have gained over 15 people reaching out to them in their DM’s just from this content ✨🌟

One thing I love about being a freelancer is to be able to work wherever I am! 💻

A few weeks ago I went away on holiday with family and decided to take my laptop with me to catch up on work. Doing this meant I didn't fall behind on work and also it was so nice to switch up my working environment!

My previous break, before this one, was the first time I actually took a whole week off of work and it actually helped me decide on some difficult decisions and helped me focus on what steps I wanted to take next.

So there is definitely benefits to working whilst on holiday AND taking a complete break when you need it! 🌴

5 Tools you need as a freelancer! ✨

These are just some of my favourite tools to use and honestly couldn’t live without!

🌟 Adobe Creative Suite

Obviously I couldn't live without these programmes, I use these to create all of my work from video editing to animations, graphic designs etc.

I’ve known how to use Premiere Pro whilst at college and university but the rest I’ve either learnt from self teaching or with online courses and good old YouTube!

🌟 Asana

I used Asana in my previous job so I already knew it pretty well. But I've only recently moved to Asana for my own business and it has been a game changer to keep everything organised, especially because I'm a multi-tasking freak!

🌟 Answer The Public

Found this helpful tool from watching other freelancers on YouTube and it's a great way to find out what your potential audience are asking about online!

🌟 Toggl Track

I use Toggl Track to track my time on each individual working project and so far it's been great. For a multitasker like me, this is great to manage my time and make sure I'm on track.

🌟 Weekly Planner

I've had this planner since I first started freelancing and I think I'd be lost without it. It helps me plan the week ahead, delegate what days I'm working on which project and keeps me productive! (and of course, it matches my branding and looks pretty)

Working on social media strategies for the past 4 years has made me realise what a great tool these social platforms are! It’s also crazy to see how much things have changed in such a short space of time. From the growth with TikTok and Reels to the annoying new Instagram algorithms!

Here are some of my favourite MIND-BLOWING social media statistics:

🌎 As of April, there were 4.65 BILLION social media users worldwide.

🥳 The TikTok app has been downloaded over three billion times with 1.2 billion active users!

🎬 In 2022, 82% of global internet traffic will come from either video streaming or video downloads

👀 On social media, visual content is 40 times more likely to be shared than non-visual content.

🍔 Nearly 9 out of 10 brands use more than one social media platform.

With those numbers, you’d be pretty silly not to jump at the opportunities social media has to offer, especially as a brand, small business, or influencer!

It's official!! I'm now a FULL TIME self employed freelance creative! 🎉

Since I started freelancing I've worked as a part-time Marketing Executive to support me financially and because I loved the people there. But as my client base grew larger, I started to struggle to manage my time and put my best effort creatively into both jobs. So the time has come where I have left my part-time role and am now a full time freelance creative!

I'm so excited for what is yet to come and to really push myself out of my comfort zone with this new chapter ahead 🥳

As people say - nothing great comes from comfort zones, so let's do this!

2 years ago today I started my online portfolio on Instagram, never imagining that doing this would allow me to work for myself doing what I love!

Since I started professionally working for myself I have:

- Worked with over 55+ new clients
- Continue to work with 9 of these clients repeatedly
- Doubled my yearly income since my last tax year
- Worked on 225+ creative projects which include Video Editing, Animation, Motion Graphics, Social Media Marketing, Graphic Design and much more!

About Me

I've always had a passion for films since I was young, making YouTube videos when I was 12 (these videos will not be posted for people to see 😂) and which led me to study Media at school, college & university 🎥 After 6 years of video experience studying & working professionally, I have developed my editing, filming & animation skills.

In 2017 I worked in Sydney, Australia with a Film Production company called Filmotion Studios. Here I learnt how to work on videos in a professional environment. I also enhanced my skills such as learning Colour Grading, documentary editing & camera operating. I graduated with a First in Media Production at Bournemouth University in 2018 & after leaving university, I decided to learn more about Marketing to be able to use my video skills in advertising & promotional videos. In 2018 I started working for Brean Leisure Park & Holiday Resort Unity as a Marketing Executive.

I learnt a variety of skills such as digital marketing, graphic design, social media & much more. I also was able to create promotional videos for different types of businesses such as a Holiday Resort, Restaurants, Indoor Play Area, Waterpark, Events & much more!
