True Story Part 1
These 3 people you see in this photo (top) are the reason why Stephen (or Steve) lost his life and left behind his wife and two young daughters, ages 9 and 10, due to internal brain hemmoraging, brought on a few hours after a very brutal beating from the suspects.
The incident started with a small misunderstanding and culminated in Steve's death. Steve's wife heard him and the main suspect, arguing outside the house so she went out to check on them. Steve, being very exhausted from a long motorcycle trip from Cagayan De Oro to Iligan (round trip), decided to stop the argument in favor of his wife and all he wanted at that time was to have some rest. As Steve and his wife walked away from the suspect, a rope that Steve used to tie up the delivery box on his motorcycle, and was carrying on his shoulder, accidentally brushed up against a part of the suspect's body. The suspect then took it as an assault even though Steve asked for forgiveness because it was not intentional. The suspect then struck the first punch hard enough to knock Steve down on the ground in front of his wife.
As Steve and the main suspect were fighting, the younger brother of the main suspect came out with additional weapons such as stainless chains, iron bar, wood and others and helped beat up Steve, now two against one. Steve's wife tried to stop the fight but the mother of the suspects dragged her away from them and then the mother started her own fight with Steve's wife.
As the fight was going on, the two young daughters came down to see what happened because they were worried about their parents. According to a video recording, the two daughters witnessed their father being beaten by the suspects - beating, kicking, and punching Steve's back, stomach, chest, and face, wrestling/slamming his body on the ground and dropping him with his head down and slamming his head as well on the wall resulting in his severe head injuries.
A man living in the compound as one of the tenants and was present during the fight until it ended (according to Steve's wife) witnessed everything that happened but did not do anything to stop the fight because he didn't want to get involved and unfortunately the man was not willing to testify to the court too as a witness.
There were a lot of people in the compound, including some relatives, witnessed the incident but they just watched because they don't want to get involved even if they saw Steve in agony and bleeding!!!
The main suspect (older brother) was initially held in prison but he was allowed to bail for Php100k (per person) or $2,000USD and it really devastated Steve's family as it seems like a LIFE in the Philippines is only worth this much!!!!
A criminal case of homicide is in progress now for the main suspect.
