started writing as a way to help him recover from a skiing accident he had as a child. Since then, he’s published a number of poetry collections, established his career as a magazine writer, and started his own publishing house: .press . This week on Poetry Snaps Podcast we talk about how we can create worlds with words when we are faced with isolation. We dive into the experience of rejection, and explore the reasons why everyone loves drama class in high school.

I am so, so excited for this episode of Poetry Snaps with . She is so one of the most thoughtful, grounded and humble storytellers I have ever met. Her mahi spans across poetry, community facilitation and the legal space. At the crux of this week’s episode: how do we show up with aroha for people in spaces that that have traditionally caused them harm?

is an absolute riot. Based in Ōtautahi, she writes about nerdy things like ancient cultures, mythology and ge****ls. This was my first ever zoom podcast - but it felt like I got to join her in the comfort of her flat, in front of cards made by her sister, and her partner’s family photos. Join us to get a little context on her first full-length book of poetry, “BITER”.

is a poet, theatre maker, and counsellor. She’s here to challenge the view that all poets are sad. In fact, if you’re writing poetry, you’re probably healing!
Her IG is bare bones, but if you slide in her DMs she’ll send you poetry in private. She’s the most mysterious Leo I know ♌️

is dropping a poetry book of short films! How does that work?? Best you listen and find out.
Tate is the kind of poet who likes gentleness. She fangirls over NZ poetry and sends shoutouts to her grandma. She is a writer and an actor and an editor and just an absolute delight.
PS Come along to her book launch at on October 27th 6pm!

.sayyed is a wordsmith. He has this magical way of weaving personal anecdotes into a tapestry that feels like it’s as much about him as it is about all of us. This week, you can join us in conversation about how everyone and everything is connected, and poetry is about finding the threads.

.poetry is a project by Katie Rickson, who writes about living with her diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder. On this episode we talk about the way poetry can ground us; help us find beauty; help us survive. We also get a rude interruption by Siri, who decides to mansplain our own distress to us.

Katie will be doing a workshop on the 28th of September called “Business in the Bath” - where she will discuss the ins and outs of starting (and sustaining) a business with bipolar disorder. Check out her IG for deets!

.ii is one of my favourite poets. He’s a writer and a performer and a dancer and a musician. His humility and peaceful nature can’t be mistaken for apathy. We talk about how Auckland Poetry, like Sheldon himself, has its roots in South; in our Māori and Pasifika communities. We talk about the interplay of rage and love and injustice and the way words help us navigate our many worlds.

and are the Taylor Swifts of poetry.
When their first show got deleted off Facebook because of misogynists, it lit a fire in their bellies. They sold out the venue, toured across the country, and published a book.
Now they’re back for round two.
When they came into the studio for recording they hugged and hugged. They hadn’t seen each other while Carrie was in iso, and they needed to make up for lost time. These two are inseparable. And that makes for a hell of a show.
