Parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra's Vidarbha region are set to experience an increased rainfall activity over the weekend.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the well-marked low pressure area currently lies over east Madhya Pradesh and adjoining north Chhattisgarh, and is very likely to move nearly westwards across west Madhya Pradesh during the next 3-4 days.
Under the combined influence of these meteorological conditions, widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are very likely over Gujarat and its neighbouring central Indian states until Sunday, August 23.
In view of this prediction, the IMD has placed the entire state—the Gujarat region as well as the Saurashtra & Kutch subdivision—under orange alert on both Saturday and Sunday, urging its residents to ‘be prepared’ for rough weather conditions. However, the advisory level may very well rise to a red warning, which instructs people to ‘take action’ and protect themselves from the downpour.
Within the state, the districts of Aravalli, Mahisagar, Surendranagar, and the UT of Diu have been placed under red warning on Saturday, while Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Panchmahal, and Dohad will be under orange alert.
