Managing social and content means you need to be a Swiss Army Knife. Creating a graphic on the fly, editing down an audio clip, transcribing an important client convo - the list goes on.
Working for companies with zero budget and everything in between has forced me to get pretty crafty at some points to create and deliver great content. That said, I now have an unreal arsenal of free tools that help me quickly and effectively create attention-grabbing content. Here they are, let's go:
✨ Canva
This one is my holy grail. With free and premium options, it's an absolute godsend in terms of creating beautiful, properly sized graphics for social in a matter of minutes (depending on how much of a perfectionist you are 😉.) Canva has saved me more times than I can count when a graphic designer isn't available, too busy, or an image needs a slight tweak. Plus, if you happen to be serving as the graphic designer on your team, they have a plethora of cool templates that make plug-and-play incredibly easy.
✨ Otter Voice Meeting Notes
How many times have you finished a webinar or a call thinking you took precise notes only to discover you can't make any sense of your chicken scratch? For me, far too many. Otter is a web app transcription tool with impressive accuracy offering both paid and free options. I've used Otter to transcribe interviews, client calls, webinars, in-person events, and more. This way you can capture important quotes for reference, search all of your transcripts if you're looking for a particular word or quote and can't remember the exact time stamp, and even download the audio as a .mp4 or .srt.
✨ Headliner by SpareMin
You know those cool audiograms that every podcast uses to promote their content? There's a web app called Headliner that, like all of these tools, has both a free and paid option that allows you to turn any audio into a customized audiogram. I've used this to extend the life of webinars or in-person events as well as podcasts and video series as well.
✨ Audacity
If you don't have a Mac, or don't want to use Garage Band, I love using Audacity to quickly edit audio. Chop out awkward pauses, interruptions, and umm's to create clean snippets or whole audio pieces. As mentioned above re: Headliner, I love chopping up webinars and other events that typically only live in the moment or in full video format to create micro-content that can turn into evergreen content that remains relevant even if the webinar or event on a whole doesn't.
