Liverpool have agreed a British record transfer fee of £111m with Brighton for midfielder Moises Caicedo.
After Brighton rejected a succession of bids from Chelsea, it remains to be seen whether the Blues will now match that amount.
Brighton had set a fee in excess of £100m for Caicedo and had said they felt no-one would reach it.
However, Liverpool have now done that, which leaves the Ecuador international free to go for a medical.
Central Region Football Association, CRFA has expressed satisfaction with the progress of their premier division league which is sponsored by Chipiku Stores two weeks before the end of the first round games
Vice General Secretary for CRFA, Antonio Manda says the competitiveness and professionalism from participating teams has been the main factor for the good progress so far
Manda said that there is huge competition from teams in the premier division as they are looking for promotion to the top league.
He said that the association will be wrapping up the first round of games in the coming two weeks ahead of the final round of games
"Each group will produce 4 teams and we will have a total of 12 teams from the 3 groups ,these 12 teams will battle it out in the last round for us to find the winner."
"This year we have not seen any issues of violence in our games which is a good thing ,referees are doing a good job and are loving it to officiate in our league. We must thank the team's officials and players for their good behaviour this season." He said.
Support Battalion is leading group A of the premier division with 24 points from 11 games and they are followed by Mbabzi United who have collected 23 points from 12 games
In group B, Silver Strikers reserve are on the first position with 25 points from 11 games, seconded by Luanar FC with 18 points from 12 games
While in group C, Kawinga FC are first with 28 points from 12 games where as Ngolowindo FC are coming second with 19 points from 12 games
Each group has 8 teams in which 4 teams from each group will qualify for the final round which will have 12 teams ,winner of the final round will be promoted to the TNM Super League
Former Bournemouth boss Gary O'Neil has been announced as the new manager of Wolves, replacing Julen Lopetegui on a three-year deal.
Lopetegui's exit from Molineux was confirmed on Tuesday - just three days before the 2023-24 Premier League season begins.
O'Neil led Bournemouth to 15th last season but was sacked on 19 June.
"Gary's a highly motivated young coach with strong principles," said Wolves' sporting director Matt Hobbs.
"It's an opportunity to do something different with an up-and-coming British coach and from the people we met, Gary was clearly the right person."

USA forward Christian Pulisic has completed his £20m move from Chelsea to Italian club AC Milan.
Pulisic, 24, has signed a four-year deal with the Serie A side, with the option of a further year.
He scored 26 goals in 145 games at Chelsea and played in the 2021 Champions League final win over Manchester City.
However Pulisic became surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, scoring only once in his final season.
"It was a difficult last few season with Chelsea. For whatever reason I wasn't getting the opportunities I wanted," he told a news conference for his unveiling.
"For me it's a brilliant opportunity to step away, get a fresh start and play for a big team like this."
Chelsea released a statement confirming the transfer, saying: "We wish Christian well and thank him for all his contributions during his time at the club."
He joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in a £57.6m move in 2019 that made him the most expensive player from North America.
The Pennsylvania native has also been capped 60 times by his country.
His switch to Serie A sees him linking up with former Chelsea team-mate Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who has also joined Milan this summer.
Chelsea have parted ways with several established first-team players this summer.
Kawinga FC have opened a nine point gap at the top of the group C table of the Chipiku stores 16.5 million kwacha premier division league after today's 2-1 win over second placed Villa FC
Villa FC who have 16 points from 10 games were first to score through Philimon Manda who slotted in the ball from the spot after they were awarded a penalty in the dying minutes of the first half
Rahim Mtondera leveled the game in the 68th minute of the second half and was followed by Anold Kiyama's goal in the 83rd minute of the match to help Kawinga FC grab maximum points at the Kamuzu Barracks ground.
The win has taken Kawinga FC to 25 points at the top of the table in group C to the delight of coach Harry Saidi.
"It was a tough game, we went behind but we started using counter attacks and that is why we have managed to score two goals and win the game today."
"We beat them 3-0 at their home in Mchinji so today they came hard on us but I am glad that we have won. We will welcome our players who were sitting for exams in the next game and this is a big boost to us." He said.
On his part coach for Villa FC George Masito Milanzie accepted defeat on the day and said that his players had pressure as they were playing away from home.
"I think sometimes when playing away you have pressure and that's what was the main problem. We should have scored more goals in this game and we could have been talking that we have collected some points." He said.
In 10 games, Kawinga FC have managed to win 8 games ,lost once and drew once.
The team has also managed to score 25 goals and have conceded 5 goals.

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign England midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea on a five-year contract for £55m, plus £5m in add-ons.
Mount, 24, will be Erik ten Hag's first signing of the summer as he looks to strengthen his side following United's qualification for next season's Champions League.
Chelsea spent £600m last season and needed to sell before 30 June to ease Financial Fair Play concerns.
Mount joined Chelsea aged six.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are now 2 points clear at the top of the TNM Super League log table after week 7 ,thanks to their recent 4-0 thumping of Red Lions FC
Bullets now have 17 points from 7 games ,winning 5 of the games and drawing 2 , the peoples team is yet to taste defeat this season
After the 4-0 win against Red Lions on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium, Head coach for Bullets Calisto Pasuwa had this to say.
"We are happy today for the win and tomorrow we are back on the drawing board as you know we are going to the north, so the game was played with an offensive mind as we had so many chances ,we need to do diagonal runs behind the defence in order to avoid these off sides."
"We failed to convert into goals all the chances due to the technique of the players, we need to work on it ,running behind the defence ,we need to also check on the shoulders of the last defender." He said.
His counter part Mike Kumanga said his boys lacked confidence when in front of goal hence failing to score a single goal despite the chances that were created
"I told the boys to believe in themselves and take all the chances but they failed to do that. We respected Bullets so much that we have been punished ,but we accept defeat."

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Head Coach Calisto Pasuwa says he does not have a defined first eleven for his team as he uses all the players that he signed
Pasuwa said this on Sunday after a 1-1 draw against Civil Service United at the Civo Stadium in the 2023 TNM Super League
He said that he chooses his players on merit based on their performance during training sessions
" We have dropped 2 points today against Civil which is a good side and they played well in this match especially the first half."
"I usually do not have a first eleven as I use each and every player that we signed ,so I tried some combinations today which didn't work out, that is why you saw the changes that we made during the game."
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets went behind in the 15th minute of the match after Binwell Katinji slotted home a Patrick Phiri's through ball into the box
Patrick Mwaungulu scored just 30 seconds into the second half to sn**ch a point from the game in a match which Civil Service United dominated.

The two teams have 9 points each as Silver Reserve tops group B and Kawinga FC leads group C .
Ironically the young central bankers have managed to score 19 goals in 3 games and have not conceded any goal
Kawinga FC have so far managed to score 11 goals in the 3 games played and have conceded a single goal

Zimbabwe has released about a fifth of all prisoners under a presidential amnesty order meant to decongest the country’s overcrowded jails.
The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) said more than 4,000 inmates - mostly men - were let out, in what it described as a noble gesture.
Violent criminals as well as those convicted of robbery, treason and public order offences were excluded.
Prisons in Zimbabwe are suffering from extreme overcrowding.
The move comes ahead of general elections in August.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa is battling a cost of living crisis, high inflation and power cuts.
