Europsko Vijeće je 23.10. potvrdilo dopunjenu EU Direktivu o vodi za piće. Zanimljivo za istaći je gledište po pitanju gubitaka vode (članci 24. i 25. Stajališta).
Slijedom toga stajalištem Vijeća u prvom čitanju uvodi se nova odredba u članku 4. kojom se od država članica zahtijeva da u roku od tri godine provedu procjenu razine gubitaka vode na svojem državnom području i da o tim rezultatima obavijeste Komisiju. Procjena razine gubitka vode provodi se primjenom infrastrukturnog indeksa istjecanja (ILI) ili nekom drugom odgovarajućom metodom.
Komisija će imati pet godina da na temelju procjena država članica delegiranim aktom utvrdi prosječnu graničnu vrijednost za gubitak vode, a od država članica sa stopom gubitaka većom od utvrđenog prosječnog praga zahtijevat će se da u roku od dvije godine od donošenja tog delegiranog akta izrade akcijski plan za smanjenje svoje stope gubitaka.

Interesting little fact, 1st conference about water loss management under umbrella of International Water Association was 20 years ago; 'System Approach to Leakage Control and Water Distribution Systems Management' in Brno, Czech Republic, in May 2000.

For this I think one short and simple snack of should be enough. For some time I have with me very good and instructive visual interpretation of Disruptive Pattern from McKinsey company.

Everybody talks about and but usually what they are focused on is of existing analog models. Disruptive pattern take the whole game to another level - associations of new concepts and new ecosystems.

Tipón is one of the most captivating archaeological sites in Peru and reflects the awe-inspiring accomplishments of the Inca Empire. While traces of occupation at Tipón date back thousands of years, its most impressive development occurred about 500 years ago, when it became a self-contained walled settlement that served as an estate for Inca nobility. Inside the settlement lay beautiful royal rooms, canals, plazas, aqueducts, and great water fountains, which all but turned a remote mountainside into an engineering marvel. It was also a place for ceremonial and religious purpose. Today, some of these structures still exist and stand as a testament to the Inca’s mastery of irrigation and hydraulic technology.

Thousands of water workers are aging and expected to retire from their positions in coming years, leading to a huge gap to fill for utilities and other water employers.

Hi all! New demands new example of in 😁💦
This time I have made short video clip where you will see following:
- proactive control of existing differential float level control valve (water reservoir inlet pipe)
- measurement results (upstream pressure, 1 second interval recordings)
- recognized hidraulic transients due to error in valve instalation, setup and working conditions (too fast closing, short working level range, mistakes in installation)
- following recognized problems, correction activities will be implemented
- employee education how these valves operate and should be used (example YouTube video)
This shows how my consultancy work for water utility looks like (managing, monitoring, educating). Thank you Dubravko Sente from Zagorski vodovod, Croatia and your presentation of good working practice.

New is here. Today I have for you short video presenting PRV proactive maintenance practice in Zagorski vodovod , Croatia.
You can see simple file system with valve records: initial upstream pressure and downstream pressure measurement from 2 years ago and recent new downstream pressure control measurement that shows evolved problem during night time (pressure rises above preset level). Measurements done with data loggers, 1 minute interval recordings.
This way maintenance team recognizes PRVs for repair, before they start cousing bigger problems and rise of bursts frequency.
This practice works fine but still without remote monitoring (planned future improvements).
