I remember back to 2007. I had just moved to a new city. My company transferred me from the number one market to number 48, but it looked like everything was going to work out well. I kept some of my New York clients and the new market seemed ready to be developed.
But as we all know…2008 came around and so did the economic downturn. My salary crashed to 28% of what I had earned the year before. 28%!! The pain, the stress, the fear. It was very challenging. 😟
But I fought back. I worked hard. I persevered. I (you can fill in your own word) 😀 it was a hard time as there were many roadblocks and I scraped by until things started to ease up. But I didn’t have a plan. I was using the same tactics as before. Sometimes they worked. Sometimes they didn’t. But in the end, I was able to help rebuild all of the Florida markets and make it the biggest success story in the company. However, I could have done more. Much more. What I really needed was a plan. A strategy to better communicate my company’s message and to get a stronger response from those I was reaching out to.
But then I met Scott through a business contact. Scott was a business coach and he shared with me some simple concepts and some incredible strategies. It was if a lightbulb actually lit up over my head. With a little trial and error, and his expert guidance I was able to implement a real plan and successfully develop new relationships and revenues as each stop in my career since. It has made such a difference and provided me with additional opportunities including being a speaker at events and the host of my own online TV segment. Sometimes you need someone else to look at what you are doing and share their opinion and suggestions. We should always be learning, as marketing and business always evolves and we should always be open to implementing something that will help you perform better. I’m glad I was open to that.
Now, there is a new crisis. This one is even more concerning and challenging than 2008. I just read a report that one small business is closing EVERY HOUR of this safe at home period. That is heartbreaking to hear and devastating for these owners, their employees and their families. And I am very concerned of how many more this will happen to. And I certainly do not want it to happen to you.
