Today we are going to talk a bit about how to get phone service and Internet connection while you’re down in Baja 📲🛜The major U.S. phone carriers seem to change their international allowances all the time…The best thing to do is check with your provider before heading down and see what your plan will offer while you’re in Mexico. Personally we have Verizon and the last time we were in Baja we were allowed 2GB of high speed data per day. This was up from the .5GB that we were given per day the time before.After we used up those 2GB it got quite expensive to purchase more through Verizon 💰It seemed like we were constantly chasing WiFi. A lot of places like cafes and restaurants do offer WiFi and this will likely be an option that you will end up using a lot!But what about when you’re out and about? There’s the option of purchasing a Telcel SIM card or eSIM. This is an absolute MUST DO winter hike 🥾❄️📍Franklin Falls is located in Snoqualmie Pass… which is less than an hour outside of Seattle 🤯We recommend this hike for many reasons… the most obvious is that the view of this waterfall is insane 🫶🏼It’s a beautiful trail that’s kind of long at about 6 miles round trip (winter route) 🥶It’s still on the easy side and great for just about anyone. We saw quite a few families. This hike is also dog friendly 👨👩👦🐶It’s only an hour drive from Seattle and the trailhead is right off of I-90 so it’s super accessible even when there’s snow 🚐 Gear: Snowshoes seem like they would be overkill most times but we would definitely recommend MicroSpikes. Be sure to dress warm and take some type of rain/snow gear. It gets significantly colder when you reach the falls and you’re likely to get sprayed with mist 🧤🧣We recommend parking at The Summit at Snoqualmie West lot and starting the hike from there. The people down here have been incredibly kind to us 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼This one could have had us down and out… but we ended up getting extremely lucky! While doing some work on our electrical system… one of our 4/O Lug crimps came completely off 😯This means that we literally had zero power in the Van until we could fix it 👎🏼To make the crimps originally we had to use a Hydraulic Crimper (or so we thought)Apparently there’s another way that might be a bit more old fashion but works great lolWe randomly came across this Welding Shop right across the street from where our Van was parked. Our Spanish is very limited and this amazing gentleman’s English was next to nothing. Somehow we got our point across and he was super willing to help. After throwing it in a Vice and a few ping pings we were on our way. He didn’t even want to accept payment for it (threw him a little cash anyways)Finding a new Lug/Wire this size down here was going to be impossible. Same for finding a Hydraulic Crimper. We thought we were dead in the water for a minute We just wrapped this with Electrical Tape and hooked everything back up. The theme of this Baja trip so far…Is that we have constantly been blown away by how nice and hospitable the people that live here are 😍🚐🇲🇽👌🏼We haven’t even made it down to the southern tip yet and already we have countless stories about complete strangers being so incredibly nice to us. They have literally been willing to help us with anything and everything we have needed down here. Their hospitality has been second to none!This is just one of those stories…We decided to quickly drop in and explore the very small downtown of San Ignacio while passing through. There we decided to pop into a small little shop selling all kinds of hand made itemsThe shop itself was really cool along with everything that they were selling… but the owners that we met were what really made the experience something that we will never forget They offered to make us some bomb Coffee. They insisted that we stay a while and hangout. We enjoyed a few games of Chess while we shared some great conversation. We ended up purchasing a few of their items and exchanging Social Media handles to keep in touch After hanging out with them for quite some time we offered up tours of our Vans out front. They were extremely kind and offered us 2 spots right in front of their shop where we stayed for the rest of the evening If you ever find yourself passing through this area… please stop in and tell them hello. Their place is Artesanías J & J.
