The story of The Aristocats is pretty bonkers. But did you know there are wealthy people out there who have actually left their fortunes, or at least part of them, to their pets?!

Designer, Karl Lagerfeld (photo 2) left a chunk of his fortune to his cat, Choupette (photos 1-2), after his passing in 2019.

And then last year, Jared Leto dressed as Choupette for the 2023 Met Gala in NYC to pay tribute to the Chanel daughter and his heir (photo 3).

Would you do the same? 🤔

Eva Gabor was the talking voice of Duchess in The Aristocats. Eva was the youngest sister of Magda and Zsa Zsa Gabor. All three were Hungarian-American socialites and actresses.

Eva would go on to voice characters in the Disney animated films “The Rescuers” (1977) and “The Rescuers Down Under” (1990).

We thought Eva sounded similar to Audrey Hepburn. Maybe because they both had distinguishable and elegant accents that helped define the characters they portrayed.

The Alley Cats were once characters at the parks! You might be thinking, why are they neon colors? Well, if you’ve watched the scene where they’re performing “Everybody Wants to Be a Cat,” it’s pretty colorful! That’s our best guess at least!

Nowadays, you really only see the three kittens out and about. But do you think they should bring the Alley Cats back?

Thanks a bunch for listening to our episode about The Jungle Book (1967)! It’s sadly nostalgic since it was the last animated film Walt Disney was around to experience (although he passed before it actually premiered), but the next movie, which premiered 3 years later, was the last one he gave the green light for production.

So be sure to check out our ✨20th official episode (WHAA!?!)🥳 about The Aristocats (1970) on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Audible, Amazon Music, Google Podcasts, iHeart Radio Podcasts, and PocketCasts.

Which version of The Jungle Book are you most familiar with? 🤔

• The original story by Rudyard Kipling (photo 1)
• The 1994 Disney live-action (photo 2)
• The Jungle Book: Mowgli’s Story starring Johnny Tsunami (Brandon Baker) (photo 3)
• The 2016 Disney live action (photo 4)
• The 1967 Disney Animated film (photo 5)

Christina remembers watching the 90’s live action a few times. And Joey really likes the 2016 live action by one of his favorite directors, Jon Favreau. But I think we can both agree that the classic is the 1967 version.

Learn more about the film by checking out Episode 19: The Jungle Book (1967) on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Audible, Amazon Music, Google Podcasts, iHeart Radio Podcasts, and PocketCasts.

Here’s a picture I took of the jungle themed portion of Disney’s Soundsational Parade at Disneyland in 2012!

King Louie was the only Jungle Book character here, but he was accompanied by dancers, stilt walkers, Terk, Zazu, and Simba.

🐍 The Indian Python from The Jungle Book, Kaa, is one of the many rotating sculptures in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland Paris. Sssssuper cool!

And fun fact, Sterling Holloway, who voiced Kaa, also voiced the Cheshire Cat and Winnie the Pooh, among other Disney animated characters!

DID YOU KNOW ❔ Disney Artist, Bill Peet based Merlin’s character on his boss, Walt Disney himself?

“Walt the wizard never knew that I patterned Merlin the magician after him when I wrote the script. In his book, T.H. White describes the wizard as a crusty old curmudgeon, argumentative and temperamental, playful at times, and extremely intelligent. Walt was not a curmudgeon and he had no beard, but he was a grandfather and much more of a character. In my drawings of Merlin, I even borrowed Walt’s nose.”

Walt inspired his team and vice versa throughout the years. Do you remember what other magical sorcerer was based on Walt Disney? Hint: it’s a “fantastic” shirt featuring Mickey Mouse. Tell us in the comments below! ⬇️

Cruella De Vil’s car in the 1961 animated film is more than just a simple drawing. ✍️

According to The Disney Wiki “during the production of One Hundred and One Dalmatians, the studio came up with an idea on how to animate Cruella’s car: they built a model of her car out of cardboard with bold black lines on the edges.

To make the wheels articulate, the animators took a long piece of cloth, taped little pieces of wooden doweling underneath it, and then put the car on top of the cloth suspended from a kite string. They would then pull this long piece of fabric with all these pieces of wooden doweling underneath the wheels, and they would shoot a take of that. To give it the look that the car had suspension, they put in springs so it would have this little bouncy effect. The footage would then be run through the same Xerox process that was being used to transfer pencil line work onto cels and then painted to what was seen in the final film. When Cruella is seen driving her car up the hill of snow, a sand-like substance was used for it to drive through, all shot in slow motion.” (Disney.fandom.com)

Photo 2-3: The car used in the live-action film, “Cruella”, starring Emma Stone.
