Kid with Down syndrome, Epilepsy, and Apraxia (along with a few other disabilities) explores Athens, Mykonos and Santorini with his family.

For kids like Mighty Knightly who have limited speech and difficulties with audio processing, routine is a comfort. Anything new can be overwhelming. So to build his bravery, our family has prioritized getting Knightly exposed to new things, one adventure at a time, including and especially new cultures, foods, languages, and environments.

Greece was such an unforgettable and incredible experience in so many ways. But what we were most grateful for was seeing how Knightly grew more willing, able, and excited to meet the new people and experiences that Athens, Mykonos and Santorini are renowned for.

Heart to Heart: I want my son to be brave. I want to be brave too.

Join us on a journey of courage as we navigate life's adventures. Initially fueled by grief over my son's disabilities, Mighty Knightly was born from a desire to prove his worth to the world and myself.

However, through healing and self-discovery, I've learned to celebrate that he is truly worthy just as he is and that true bravery comes from embracing vulnerability and taking life's challenges one adventure at a time. This channel is for Knightly and for me and for anyone seeking encouragement in facing fears and celebrating triumphs, one step at a time.

Knightly gets scared of group pictures and when people sing, “Happy Birthday”. We first learned that at his 1st birthday.

So after many tries of pushing through it when he was younger, I stopped. Pushing. And, as a result, we didn’t take him to school birthday parties.

Now Knightly is 11. And for the first time, we let him go to a classmate’s birthday party at The Great Wolf Lodge. We figured with the pools, swimming, and Halmoni there…maybe…maybe this time he’ll be okay? But honestly I held my breath and waited and prayed.

The time came for the kids to sing, “Happy Birthday” and take a group photo. And Knightly, nervous and uncomfortable, sat far from the group and waited. And that was a step. He stayed calm and, for that alone, I was thankful. But then something wonderful happened.

The boys all noticed Knightly. And, wanting to include him, they ran over to where he was and sat around him and said to take a group photo there with their buddy Knightly. Then, the parents sent me this photo and my heart felt joy.

Community, connection, courage. One adventure at a time.
