Between Acceptance and Hope
Knightly’s had seizures since he was 5 years old. Now, he’s 12. And we thankfully haven’t seen seizures for a good while. So his neurologist ordered an EEG. And if Lordwilling it’s negative, this’ll be the last one, meaning he’ll be declared seizure-free and we’ll get to wean him off the medication he’s been on for 7 years.
So this was our day. Sleep deprivation. No caffeine, no sugar. Flashing lights. And me lying down next to him to help him get comfortable enough to nap so they can study his brain. Thankfully, it worked.
And, now, we wait for the results.
Hope for

Whatever comes
Don’t people with Down syndrome and those who take care of them have poor quality of life? Isn’t it better if they weren’t born?
Today is World Down Syndrome Day and I want to share a story to help #EndTheStereotypes

Knightly can't jump rope yet. But that doesn't mean he can't play.

Why do we make How-To videos for all abilities?
No one could run a 4 minute mile. Enter Roger Bannister. Once he did, others did too. Barriers are broken when we watch others defeat them.
That’s why we do this.
Knightly couldn’t handle the daily life stuff: clanging dishes, the dentist, and airplanes. So we started making these videos. And the world has opened up for him.
Our videos are based on the latest research for video-based modeling and applied behavioral analysis, often called social narratives or stories. They are step-by-step of what someone can expect, do, and how to communicate their needs when it’s challenging for them to do so.
We include a neurodiverse community because, together, we inspire people of all abilities to break barriers.

It’s okay if you have a meltdown.
It’s okay to have hard days.
It’s okay to say when it feels too much.
Sometimes being brave for me is being honest about how I feel and when I’m all done. An important thing I hope #mightyknightly learns.
Why travel with a disability?
