What's up dark and twisty fans!

Today I'm again by myself, no McKenna I know your stuck with me, she's away with my brother in law on a get away. And I'm watching my niece ellie and my nephew Rio.

Todays episode is the story of a teacher who single handedly rescued hundred of Jewish students during the n**i take over in world war 2.

Like most Belgians, andree was a young school teacher at a local school, that did not pay much attention to the anti Jew measures and persecution taking place in her own country. Until one day one of her students came to class doning a Star of David patch, that red Jude across the middle meaning "Jew.". This struck andree to her core, she immediately thought of how to make sure her class room was a safe place for all her students. So she instructed her students to wear aprons to her class, to cover the humiliating sign forced upon the jewish people.
Atleast within the walls of the school, Jewish students and families could be protected from the humiliation they face on a day to day basis. So this was a life lesson for those students who didn't have to wear this patch on their clothing. Everyone did as she said. No questions asked.
Acts like these quickly became insufficient for young Andree. She was fully committed to opposing hitlers acts as she described it. She slowly saw those students with the Star of David on their chest, some would come back and tell of their families being taken, others would disapear only to be found to be dead.. in a concentration camp..
Soon after She met Ida Sterno, a Jewish member of the clandestine organization Comité de Défence des Juifs – Jewish Defense Committee – who brought her into its ranks. Ida needed a non-Jewish partner who would help her accompany Jewish children to their hiding places, and Andree needed a framework in which she could act and assist. Andree was given a code name – Claude Fournier – and was told leave her parents’ home and move to the boarding school where she was teaching. The Gaty de Gamont School was deeply involved in hiding Jewish children. At the initiative of the headmistress Odelle Oubart, twelve Jewish students were hidden at the school at a time when there were not many safe places for Jewish children.

In May 1943, the Germans raided the school in the middle of the night. It was during Pentecost – all non-Jewish students were spending the holiday with their families at home, while the Jewish children who had nowhere to go stayed behind at school. The Jewish children were dragged out of their beds and interrogated about their identity. The children were immediately arrested and the teachers also taken for interrogation. When the German interrogator looked Andree in the eye and scornfully asked if she wasn’t ashamed to teach Jews, she responded without hesitating:
“Aren’t you ashamed to make war on
Jewish children?”
Andree managed to evade arrest, but the night took its toll. The headmistress and her husband were arrested and deported to concentration camps in Germany, where both died. They were later recognized by Yad Vashem as Righteous Among
the Nations.

After that traumatic evening,
Andree went from house to house among her Jewish students, telling them what had happened and warning them not to return to school. She knew the Germans were liable to return. Her involvement with rescue deepened further, and she now embarked on a clandestine existence. She rented an apartment under a false name, which she shared with Ida Sterno. Contact with the rescue organizations was maintained through secret post office boxes, one of which was located in an antique shop. From there information and orders were passed, and Andree’s activities continued undiminished.

For over two years, she visited Jewish homes and extended her hand to the children, without being able to tell their parents where she was taking them. The children would hold her hand in theirs, and with their other hand clutch a suitcase of treasures that their mothers had tearfully packed. Andree often sang to the children, and today believes that the children remembered this pleasantness amidst the fear and uncertainty associated with those days. Sometimes she would take children as young as two or three years old. She would drill into her memory the false names of the hidden children and their addresses – information with life and death consequences. In secret, she prepared lists with the real names of hundreds of hidden children, some of whom never saw their parents again. In doing so, she preserved the children’s Jewish and family identity, which depended entirely on her ability to recall, as young children forget these details easily. Parents begged to know where she was taking their children, but she could not reveal her hiding places. She learned that if she did, the parents would not be able to resist visiting the areas where their children were in hiding, thus putting them all at risk.

While Andree herself visited these houses, it often happened that a raid would take place: blocked streets, soldiers everywhere, and trucks waiting to take away the innocents caught by the Gestapo. In these circumstances, she managed to save a few children. She would cross over the checkpoints, with one child in a stroller and others holding her hand, looking like a young mother of several children. The soldiers were embarrassed to confront her and in this way, she saved the hidden children, though sadly not their parents. When she managed to save a child, she felt a great sense of satisfaction and an uplifting of her spirits.

Years later, she compared the feeling to raising children of her own. One time, a passerby stopped Andree as she was walking with a Jewish child, and innocently asked the child’s name. The child looked at her and whispered,
“Should I give my real name or my fake name?” It was a terrifying moment. Andree gestured to the child to be silent, and not say anything.
In May 1944, Ida Sterno was arrested and sent to the Mechlin transit camp, from which Jews were sent to Auschwitz. Although Andree ‘s life was in great danger, she visited Ida in the camp, granting her a few extra moments of humanity and friendship.
The young teacher acted to save Jews until the last day of the war, and was a member of a network of underground groups. Most of the children did not know that their rescue was part of these groups, nor did they know that Madame Andree Guelen was responsible for their rescue.

Henri Novak, one of the rescued children, later related: “About a decade ago, while visiting with his wife in Brussels, his cousin invited him to Shabbat dinner at a Jewish club. The hall was full and someone asked him if He knew Madame Guelen. He answered that He had never heard the name. ‘Come let me introduce you,” he said. They went to the table, and sitting there was a woman Henri did not know. His friend said to her “Madame Guelen, I want to introduce to you my friend from Israel. The woman raised her head and asked him his name. ‘My name is Henri Novak,’ He said. She gave him a long look and said ‘1059’. He was stunned. He said her ‘Excuse me, to what are you referring?’ She replied ‘That was your code number during the war. We took care of you after your parents were no longer around.’ From that moment, everyone became clear to him. He learned things that He hadn’t known for a long time.”

Now todays story is a creepy one. It's a let's not meet story from a listener on Reddit and

So this story happened when I was in college, I'm away from that school. This also happened about 3 months AFTER a serial killer was caught not that far from campus. My roommate matched with him on tinder right before he was caught too. Just to put things in perspective This also happened after the 2016 clown sightings.

I was visiting my friend who was an RA on the other side of campus, I would do this every night like clock work. Walk home by 2am. Stupid I knwo given the circumstances but I'm a tall skinny child who can put up a fights There is two ways I can get back to my dorm, the fastest is to take the street the longest is cutting through the court yard in the students center. Lately I had been noticing this can kind of following me while I walked to classes and things like that, I mean it's not abnormal to see people around who lived in the neighborhoods around campus because the main road ran through campus.

One night I was walking home from my friend the RAs dorm I was going to take the fastest route( through the streets) to get home instead of cutting through the students center. I had a gut feeling as I started torwards the street that I shouldn't go that way, but I was really tired and I just wanted to go to my dorm. I couldn't ignore my gut and I turned around and walked through the students center. I walked for a bit as I did I came upon the bridge I have to go on that goes over a street that I would've crossed had I taken the street and that same while van I've been seeing turned his lights on. I stopped on the bridge just in time to hear the man in the driver seat say "I don't know man she usually comes this way at this time." As soon as I heard that my body went cold and frozen. I ran into the students center building and sat in a chair for a while. I didn't want to go back to my dorm incase someone was following me. I eventually did make it back and went to sleep.

So to the creepy guy in the white van that knew my schedule, let's not meet.

Hey dark and twisty fans!

Houston here, I wanted to take a moment to bring light to soemthing. Something that is going on in the world right now, and no matter where you are it is touching your heart and it's on your mind.

As we know nearly a week ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin. Declared war on the country Ukraine which is just southeast of russias borders. He claims that Ukraine serves a threat Russia. That Russia needs to attack before Ukraine can get their arms up. That if other countries get involved, their will be nuclear consequences...
The United States, Canada, and other countries have been warning any Canadians, Americans, any of their people to remove themselves.. as they feared an attack from Russia may happen, which it did. As the news gets to each and every news team in the world, stories of heroism from Ukraine are also coming to light...

He learned Genichesky Bridge near Kyiv was a go through for the Russian forces to cross and access Ukraine.
He went to place an explosive as the Russian army's tanks approached. But he didn't have time to get out of the blast zone before detonating the explosives, so he told his regiment he'd blow it up anyhow. He radioed to his comanding officer, his last goodbyes. But his final words before the explosion was for them to give Putin and his arm a big "go f**k your self." For him as they continue to fight.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Ukraine. We wish you safety, and peace in a incredibly scary time for your country.

Episode 3:

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫, 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐊𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭

𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧: Hey True Crimers and All Things Spooky fans! Today I'm coming back at you with an interesting episode, that I think you all might like. But before I do that, if you guys don't follow us on Facebook you may not know that my baby sister McKenna or as we call her Kenna has joined dark and twisty and will be co-hosting our bigger episodes. My nephew Rio is joining us today as well. But anyway In between we will be releasing what we're calling "Dark and Twisty Shorts." Where it could be anything from a short ghost story or creepy story and we'll also be throwing some means on creepy history facts out. To keep y'all all engaged! Kenna why don't you tell everyone about yourself, and I mean besides the fact that you're a brat.

𝐌𝐜𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚: Aww, isn’t my brother a gem y’all?
Hi viewers, I’m so thankful my pain in the butt older brother allowed me to come and help take over Dark and Twisty with him. For those who don’t me, I am McKenna Carter, soon to be McKenna Carter-Clarke. I am a mom of two. Which is so weird to say now. My daughter Ellie will be 5 in April, and the love of my life and I just welcomed our baby boy, Rio on January 21st. I am the youngest girl of the family (Go me), but I’m also known For my businesses and being extremely loud but also being someone my friends and loved ones can rely on. To show you I’m worthy of being here with you Houston, I have a topic for today already. I wanted to start with a bang, a murderer who is known for living three different lives. Tonight I’d like to introduce you to Randy Kraft of Long Beach California. Randy Kraft also known as the Scorecard, The Freeway Killer, and The Southern California Strangler killed a minimum of 16 young men from 1972-1983 but is also believed to have committed r*pe and murder to 51 other young men.

𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧: Isn't she just a pain in the ass? Alright, trying to one-up me.
Now y'all understand why I say I love her to death but she drives me crazy. She and my wife make some bomb-ass cheesecake oh my god, you guys if you haven't go check out sweet relief cheesecake and Kenna’s donut shop hole in one. You won't be disappointed.
And well Randy sounds like a real walk in the park. Let's get into this one then Kennie, seems like you have done your research. I just hear something like that immediate mind just like what possesses someone to do such things.

𝐌𝐜𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚: I wouldn’t imagine it either. As I was doing my research about this man and reading some of the things he’s done, it had me go wtf. What surprised me the most about Randy is that most male murderers target mainly females but have been known for both females and males, but Randy's victims were different. He targeted young men between the ages of 13 and 35 but mostly in their mid 20, in the US Marine Corps, and or gay. Not only was Randy known as The Scorecard Killer, The Freeway Killer, and The Southern California Killer, he was known as the Gay Murderer who r*ped, photographed, and dismembered his male victims. When he was finally caught in 1983 and the news finally got out, it shocked everybody. Kraft was known for being shy, smart and a nice guy kind of like Lonnie David Franklin JR. although he was caught in 1983 his trial didn’t begin until 5 years later in 1988, but wasn’t officially sentenced until 1989 when he was charged with 16 counts of murder and sentenced to the death penalty and is currently serving his time as one of the most famous inmates in San Quentin State Prisons

𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧: I just read through some of the info and it has me going like how did people not know this man was doing this s**t? it says here that in college he worked at a gay bar as a bartender before he went into the Air Force and was medically discharged when he came out. And worked as a bartender full time after, it's also said that during his murders he frequently went to marine corps bases. Maybe him being medically discharged is why he targets other service members?
It's also said that there were three perpetrators, two other people William Bonin and Kearney Kraft was the last of the 3 killers to be caught.
He was caught for the last time, just after 1:00 a.m. on May 14, 1983, when the California Highway Patrol pulled him over for driving under the influence. When the officers looked into his car, they saw a man who appeared to be sleeping in the back seat. When they opened it, they found him to be dead, with obvious signs of foul play. The man was Terry Gambrel, a 25-year-old U.S. Marine officer, and Kraft's final victim, and had been strangled with his belt. It said in your notes that Kraft targeted young Caucasian men and teenage boys aged in their late teens to mid-20s, usually hitchhikers, runaways, or men he picked up in gay bars. People he felt that nobody would care for went missing, that's just god that is sickening. You can't even make sense of something like this. But at the same time, you can't even make it up either. Or people will think it's a Stephen King novel and that crazy crap happens in our dreams

𝐌𝐜𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚: When he was arrested police found a list of 65 names that referenced each of his victims. Kraft was smart though, the list was written in code with very little to go of but upon investigation, investigators were able to make connections linking 43 victims to his “scorecard”
Hey Houston, this reminds me of the part in The Vampire Diaries when Stefan becomes a ripper again and runs off with Klaus

𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧: that explains the nickname the scorecard killer. It almost seems as if it was a game to the 3 killers makes me wonder if the other two kept a list of names. My thoughts exactly or when Dexter went all rogue cop for the first time with his blood samples in his air conditioner almost getting discovered by his sister.
Kraft claimed this list Kennie was a party list of people he wanted to invite to his boyfriend Jeff seeking a surprise birthday party. He said one column was people he wanted to come to, the second column was people who were maybes. That the reason the list was in code was so only he knew and Jeff wouldn't. It's also said that Kraft was a sensitive shy guy, that his classmates from high school were mortified that they never thought he would do such a thing. The person who was student body president in high school with him was quoted saying "We agreed that if we had to pick five people in our class who would never, ever be accused as some type of mass murderer, Randy would be one of the five." In March of 1970, 13-year-old Joseph Alwyn Fancher ran away from home to Huntington Beach. He ran into Kraft, who drugged him and kidnapped him. Kraft showed him lewd pictures of men before ra**ng him. Fancher then escaped, stumbling into a bar in Belmont Shore. Bloodied and addled, the child was rushed to the ER before he eventually led police back to Kraft's home. However, despite finding condemning evidence, the police searched without a warrant. Most of the evidence was thrown out and Kraft walked away. Kraft dubbed him the 13-year-old boy who got away. BUT just think if they convicted him, how many lives would've been saved.

𝐌𝐜𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚: Could you imagine getting that as a birthday present? Imagine Casper coming up to you and being like “Here babe, I have a list of people I unlived for you!” Just thinking of is making me laugh. Like I can’t even wrap my head around it, all I can do is laugh.

Think about it for a second though Houston, most of the evidence was thrown away. Imagine all the murders who are still out there because the evidence was just thrown out. Unbelievable. Even though the evidence was thrown out in the past, he was questioned for the murder of Keith Daven Crotwell in 1975. Keith had been decapitated and only his head was ever found. When Randy was questioned he simply told police he gave the kid a ride and they were forced to release Kraft due to insufficient evidence.

Did you know that California wasn’t the only state he murdered? Yes, Southern California was where the majority of his crimes took place but he was also linked to crimes in many other states such as Michigan and Oregon. Kraft worked for a company Lear Sigler Industries and did frequently travel to both of the other offices in Michigan and Oregon. A total of 8 murders Randy was linked to - 2 in Michigan and 6 in Oregon wherein 1980 a 17-year-old man was found brutally murdered and his body was left on the I-5 in Oregon
People say Kraft lived 3 different lives. He was intelligent with a high IQ and had a successful career working with computers, at night with his roommate/ boyfriend Jeff Selig they would visit gay bars, and while Jeff worked on weekends which was frequent Kraft would kill. When Law Enforcement found this out they were shocked that he was able to keep 3 separate lives and nobody knew. How do you keep a secret that big? Damn, I can’t even keep a secret from Eli. How do you keep something like that from someone you love.

𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧: Look Casper can read me like a book, like nobody's business I can't keep a secret from her ever. But Kraft pled not guilty to the charges of murder and still maintains his innocence. Even though police found the body of his last victim, Terry Gambrel, dead in the passenger's seat of his car, Kraft claims he was just a hitchhiker he picked up and that he wasn't dead when he was pulled over. In an interview with The Pride, he started by saying, “To begin, I did not kill Terry Gambrel. And neither did I kill or assault any of the other persons as the authorities claim. Notwithstanding that, I have been imprisoned since May 14, 1983, some 32 years, nearly half of my life.”
Kraft also remained silent after the trial, only speaking to the LA Times once shortly after his arrest. It wasn't until 2015 that he publicly spoke out in an attempt to clear his name. Kraft claims that the victim found in his car had not yet died when the officers pulled him over. He further claims that the officers prevented the paramedics from performing CPR on the victim. Kraft goes on to say, “I didn’t get a fair trial, the government turned it into a serial killer trial.”
Aside from his popular nickname the scorecard killer. As you mentioned he was also called the freeway killer, it's said the majority of his victims were found on the highway.
My thing is, I wanna know what drives someone to kill? What drives someone to hurt someone? How much anger and hate do you have to have? Is it possible that Kraft saw himself in the people he killed so instead of killing himself he killed other people as some weird fe**sh?

𝐌𝐜𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚: Okay this is going to sound like a weird reference but it reminds me of the intro of Jersey Shore when Jwow goes “After I have s*x with a man, I ripe their heads off”
Which is literally what Kraft did. He drugged, and assaulted these men and strangled them to death.

Randy’s trial was the longest and most expensive trial in Orange County at the time. Like I said he was caught in 1983 but it wasn’t until 6 years later that he was finally found guilty and sentenced to death. Six years. He did try and file an appeal but in 2000 he was denied. When Randy was arrested the officer pulled him over thinking it was going to be just a typical DUI but when SGT Michael Howard, who was the man arresting Kraft approached the car he noticed a passenger - Terry Gambrel, Kraft's final kill. When SGT Howard found him with a jacket draped over his lap, his pants were undone with his ge****ls exposed and bright red marks around his wrist like he was tied up. Like you said Houston, Kraft claimed he didn’t kill Terry. That Terry was just a hitchhiker he picked up. But when they discovered Terry they also found under the floor mat 47 Polaroid photos of other young men who had been murdered.

𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧: He claims his innocence to this day on Terry's death and the others he was convicted on. Not to mention all the evidence piled against him? No wonder it took them 6 years to compile everything all together. 6 years to compile everything together when he knew if he was convicted without a guilty plea it was the automatic death penalty

𝐌𝐜𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚: When Kraft was arrested they went to the house he shared with Jeff and they discovered a treasure troll as they called it. The couch in the photos they found, an old yellow rug which linked Kraft to another murder, and in the garage the investigators found a box of victims stuffs one of the items is a jacket of a murder victim from Michigan. I mean all this explains why it took 6 years to put convict him. And is still sitting on death row to this day. Which is insane. I wonder what his last meal would be

𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧: This dude was just sickening Ken. Like I can't even imagine, the pain he's put those victims through and their poor families like. What the f**k, I just I wanna know what poses someone does that. Most serial killers start earlier on in life, killing animals like birds and squirrels and then they move on to bigger things as they get older like family pets neighborhood dogs. Like this guy just came out of the woodwork, if they didn't catch him that night on the highway with the body in the car. They would likely never catch him cause he was an extremely unlikely suspect when you look at serial killers.
I wonder what his last meal would be too, hopefully, it won't be nasty ass f**king pineapple.
It also says Kennie that Kraft was convicted of killing sixteen men. Sixteen men, but the police and investigators believe that he actually between California, Michigan, & Oregon that he killed upwards of a total of 67 men. That is just crazy to me, maybe this is something we should continue to talk about, what possesses someone to kill. What makes them feel so enraged is that they get satisfaction out of killing people. Or in his case torturing and then killing them which seems like he's following in Dennis Raider's footsteps. They dubbed him BTK killer. Which stands for bind Torture kill. What are your thoughts Kennie, what do you think possesses someone has this mindset, to just snap cause Kraft wasn't like this up until his adult life. What do you think changed for him?

𝐌𝐜𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚: Honestly I think anyone is capable of murder when pushed to a certain point. But I also believe that it’s an addiction, a high, a thrill of it all. As twisted and as f**ked up as it is, and as crazy as I sound saying it. I also feel something happens in someone’s life that drives them to it. That there is a trigger in someone’s mind where everything almost goes blank and all they see is red. I think there was something inside Kraft that he also hated about himself and took it out in others. Maybe he hated the fact he was gay? It wasn’t as accepted back in the 70s as it is now. Like I said I feel like anyone is capable of murder but it’s knowing the difference between right and wrong. And those who still act in the wrong that is a master of their craft or should I say, Kraft.

𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧: I think people who can kill, who can be a serial killer. That they are sociopaths, that there is something in the wiring of their brain that just, shuts their morals off. Shuts everything that would stop them from believing what's right and what's wrong. Think about it okay— most sociopaths, show no feelings, no sense of empathy or remorse. If they do show it, they're showing it because they are trying to get something from it. They are selfish and manipulative. They are psychotic. Take Charles Manson, for instance, the man was a sociopath, he believed that he was the all-knowing god and he manipulated this group of people and brainwashed them into killing him. some of those women today still are in prison and still believe his words. It's insane. But then you have the ones who grew up in s**tty home environments, ones who had it tough. And decided they need to take that out on others, which makes them the common psychopath. But then you have Kraft. Whom I agree with you, I think he snapped. I think when he was medically discharged for being gay from the Air Force I think it made him see red. And he snapped. The only person I think he truly thought cared about him, was his boyfriend Jeff because he never tried to hurt him. Never gave him any reason to think he was responsible for any of what was going on. And I think the only person besides himself, I think Kraft cared about Jeff as well.

𝐌𝐜𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚: Some could even argue that Kraft killed for love.

𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧: That's true, they could. Maybe it's a love he saw these service members or other people had, he wanted that but didn't have it. Or maybe he felt doing this was impressing Jeff. Yet Jeff had no idea what he was doing. I think that's quite possible tho Kennie, I think in this snapped mindset, he thought he was impressing Jeff by doing these things.

𝐌𝐜𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚: Who knows honestly, part of me feels like Jeff knew the whole time, or had a sense. What about you Dark and Twisty fans? Do you think Jeff knew what Randy was up to? Let us know!
