We're in a planning phase for various projects at the moment. We have a couple of books under way, and we are also getting ready for the launch of our first short story competition. Watch this space!
While we know that lock-down is difficult for everyone, we hope that you are able to get some creativity or inspiration during this time. We also hope that you are staying safe and well.

Rosevale Mine is one of the rare places where a Cornish tin mine is coming to life. It is a restoration project and incredible work by dedicated volunteers who are bringing this wonderful mine back to it's former condition. Keeping Cornish tradition alive.

We were so lucky to have been allowed to photograph parts of the mine and their work. We couldn't have finished the Hidden in Plain Sight project without them.

So this is exciting... we have a delivery date for the books. :) We will, very soon (sooner than you think) be able to send out your copy. Oh, and finalise the details for the much-needed informal book launch.

A step closer. A final printer's proof was sent across today following some litho printing on the cover. We're geared up now for the final prints to arrive 😁

With a slight delay from the printers, the book will now be out in early January. Not quite in the time we would have liked but it is the busy season. The printer's proof should be here any day now. .

This is the remains of an old adit, possibly of the silver and lead mine that was part of the Chyverton mine group. It has become exposed to the air when it would once have been underground. A fascinating location.

There are around 200 engine houses still standing in Cornwall but did you know there were actually something like 2000 mines in Cornwall?

The tunnels and voids are still beneath our feet. Some are flooded, some may be collapsed, but others are there as a living history that few may actually see. We are trying to record it photographically for generations to come.

So much of cornwall is a post-industrial landscape. It makes it what it is today but I wonder what it would have looked like before mining. Makes you think.

These are just a few of the things that have been preserved for longevity at Rosevale mine. Some of the mine carts are still in use today. It gives a real glimpse of the past... in an extraordinary underground environment.

The mining landscape is slowly being recolonised by nature. In fact, in some places the poor quality ground has enabled rare habitats to develop. Former mine sites can be home to rare wildlife too. Amazing how the Cornish mines still affect us today.

This amazing green is from an iridescent moss known to many as Goblin's Gold. It has adapted to low light conditions. The reflection is from lottlw tiny lenses that help focus what little light is available to it so that ot may use the energy to grow.
Nature is fascinating with its resilience.

The colour underground is surprising. It can be so colourful, which Claire has photographed but nothing can capture the feeling of being surrounded by such beauty.
