----- A320 CONTROL SURFACE / PARTS ------
1: Ailerons- It is a part of the Primary Flight Control Surface. It Controls the Roll
Function of an Aircraft. If the POI (Pilot In Command) turns the side stick to the left
side the left ailerons would go up and the Right ailerons would go down and vice
versa. Raising the aileron on the left wing reduces the lift on the left wing and when
wings have a reduction in lift they drop.
2: Spoilers- They are a part of the Secondary Flight Control Surface and are
located at the trailing edge of the Upper Surface of the wing. It is used for Spoiling
the Lift and Speed Brakes. There are two types of Spoilers - Flight Spoilers (which
can be deployed in air to reduce amount of Speed and Ground Spoilers (which are
deployed on ground). the Flight Spoilers too get deployed on Ground
They deploy at an maximum angle of 60 degrees.
3: Wicks- Also know as Static Dischargers, their main function is to Dissipate the
Static Chargers caused by the friction from the Structure and Air (other factors) through the Static Wicks.
4: Track Fairing- They can also be called as Flap Fairings. They protect the Flap
Extension and Retraction and make the Aircraft more Aerodynamic by reducing the drag.
5: Attachment Point- The Yellow Hook on the Wing are known as Attachment
Points for Safety Lines and are used during evacuation (Water Landing etc.).
6: Flaps- It is a Secondary Control Surface also know as High Lift Device used take-off as well as landing. As the Flaps are extended it increases the Wing Surface
Area/Camber line of the Wing which creates Drag, reduces Speed and increases theAngle of Attack.
Single-Slotted Flaps are used in A320.
Flaps also give some amount of Lift.
7: Slats- They are located at the leading edge of the Wing and are also known as High Lift Device they also give some amount of Lift.
