I've heard people say that they don't want to be "That” girl. You know the one - the girl who sells stuff online or works with a Direct Sales type company. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Well, let me share with you a little bit about "That” girl! 💁🏼‍♀️She is adding income to her family— sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. It's no different than owning a “brick and mortar” shop or selling on Etsy.

She might be spending any extra time she has after working her full time job, working on her side hustle, checking on customers or her team, doing personal development, all in addition to the existing commitments she already has. She is helping other men & women feel like they are enough all while feeling she has a passion & purpose! 🙋🏼‍♀️

"That” girl is often a full-time Mom (sometimes full-time employee and Mom combined), she might be balancing kids, and life, yet her dream will keep her up late at night to the early morning mapping out goals, and planning her next steps for success! 💪🏻👊🏻

"That” girl knows that people might “make fun” of her passion for her product. She also knows there are friends and family who will never support her. EVER! And, that’s okay! She does it anyway. 🤷🏼‍♀️

"THAT” girl can be knocked down, but I guarantee you she'll get right back up. She knows that full-time incomes, incentive trips, and an abundant life are achievable and she wants to inspire other people to go for their dreams too. She’s seen it happen over and over!! 🏆

So when you are talking about "That” girl ... scrolling past her posts ... REMEMBER, she's just like anyone else trying to do better for herself and her family. 👨‍👩‍👧

I started my biz 2+yrs ago as a hobby to meet others and have my own little fun money 😊 I was a fulltime student who recently retired from the military and was used to working outside the home. I missed adults and always having something new to do!

Anyway, I just thought I’d earn my kit money back, take advantage of that discount, and putz with the opportunity until my had my hands so full with a new job and soon to be baby on the way, then I’d quit. I’m still here! Scentsy just molded into my life and I found ways to work my business in 5-15 minute increments. I use my business as a creative outlet, a way to save money with birthday and holiday gifting, as a way to meet new people, and I love that it is all mine! Sorry babe 😂

Not everyone who picks up this side gig is here to make a career out of it, in fact, most aren’t! They may just love the products and want them at a discount, or they want to be around others, or they want a hobby, or they want a vacation/wedding/retirement/sports/shoe/fancy car/grocery/date night/college/anything you can name fund. People join and stay for all sorts of reasons! I think I’m still here because I never once felt pressure when I started that I needed to make it into something that wasn’t what I wanted. I could design and work any way I wanted and still felt like part of the community. Our sales requirement to be a consultant is $200 in a single month in a 4 month period! We’re not in the business of making people feel like they need to spend family money to keep their business alive. Scentsy should bring joy and the extras to you - that’s the intent! ☺️

I have found so much joy and fulfillment in my scentsy journey. I have met fellow consultants who have become true friends 🥰

People often claim that independent consultants for direct sales companies are not REAL SMALL BUSINESSES. 🤨

They are wrong. (I acknowledge that not all direct sales companies are created equal or abide by the same rules. 😘)

We track business supplies 🧾and expenses🏷, we pay in and out📤📥, we report to the government with taxes🤑, track tax write offs 📑, provide customer service, and 100 other things I could name.

I do not feel we are different other than we do not have to invest thousands and possibly go bankrupt like many small town businesses do. We are not required to have a physical store which gives us the freedom to work on our schedule.

Independent consultants are similar to Franchises. They have to follow rules, corporate guidelines, etc but in exchange to being able to use the name. Main difference is they act as a chain and We have to identify ourselves as independent consultants.

Please consider this the next time you are quick to dismiss many direct sales as non legitimate small businesses. We are just trying to provide for our families like everyone else.
