The Clyson family trip to Antigua last March was a redo of sorts. They'd already cancelled one trip to Mexico due to COVID-19 concerns and restrictions.

With two teenagers in tow, Rob and Kathleen Anne Clyson of Kitchener, Ont., knew it might be the last time they'd be able to get the whole clan on a plane at the same time.

Despite having both trip interruption and emergency COVID-19 coverage, an Ontario man's insurance claim was denied after he tested positive while vacationing in Antigua. Why? He wasn't sick enough to qualify. But one lawyer says the policy was clear and Manulife was wrong to reject the claim.

As the city returns to normal after the heavy snowfall in December, Saskatoon residents are noticing more foggy and frosty mornings than usual.

A meteorologist with Canada’s weather service says he’s noticed it, too.

“We’ve been constantly, from the office here, issuing fog advisories for the province of Saskatchewan,” Eric D***s, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, told CTV News.

“It’s been an enormously foggy start to 2023.”

As a real estate agent, you know firsthand the challenges and obstacles that can come with the job. Here are the top pain points that realtors often face and some solutions to help you overcome them:

Finding new clients: One of the biggest challenges for real estate agents is finding new clients and generating leads. One solution is to invest in targeted online advertising and social media marketing to reach potential buyers and sellers. Networking and building relationships with local businesses and community organizations can also be a great way to find new clients.

Managing time: With the demands of showings, open houses, and client meetings, it can be tough for real estate agents to effectively manage their time. One solution is to use a scheduling tool or calendar to help you stay organized and prioritize your tasks. It can also be helpful to set boundaries and communicate with clients about your availability.

Staying up-to-date on market trends: The real estate market is constantly changing, and it's important for real estate agents to stay up-to-date on the latest trends and changes. One solution is to regularly read industry blogs and publications, attend industry events and conferences, and take continuing education courses.

Dealing with difficult clients: Dealing with difficult clients is something that all real estate agents will have to face at some point. One solution is to have a clear set of expectations and policies in place, and to communicate them.

By many standards, 2022 was a difficult year not only for Saskatchewan residents, but for all Canadians.

From rising interest rates, to skyrocketing grocery prices, to illness — it can seem like the hardships keep coming.

While nothing actually changes at midnight on New Year's, many take the fresh calendar year as an opportunity to change their outlook. For some, that means finding more joy in everyday life.

With snowbanks piling high all over town, even in a city known for winter weather, this is more than some vehicles can handle.

That’s why a Saskatoon man decided to lend a helping hand.

“Me and my friend Julian were driving down the street, and it started with, ‘hey, let’s help this guy out,’” said Shaday Fiddler. “And we did. It all kind of started from there, so I made a Facebook post. It got pretty big and we’ve been pretty busy ever since.”

You may have heard the term "sober curious" going around. Trying out or flat-out choosing an alcohol-free lifestyle has been trending for a few years now.

Now, beverage companies are taking notice.

There are a multitude of reasons why people choose not to drink alcohol. There are, of course, recovering alcoholics and pregnant women, but there are also people who don't drink due to a conflict with medication they're on, their religion, athletic training or wellness goals.

Recent trends have been very clear: People want non-alcoholic drink options that aren't simply soda, juice or the basic light, alcohol-free beers that have been available for years.

Canada is preparing to expand its medically assisted death framework to become one of the broadest in the world, a change some want to delay due to concerns vulnerable people have easier access to death than to a life without suffering.
Starting in March, people whose sole underlying condition is mental illness will be able to access assisted death. Mental illness was excluded when the most recent medical assistance in dying (MAID) law was passed in 2021.

Brian (Buggy) Burns says it's the small things he misses the most, like sitting down and having coffee with his wife nearly every morning for more than three decades.

Since his wife, Bonnie, and son Gregory were killed in a mass stabbing, coffee just hasn't tasted the same. Jokes haven't been as funny.

And, Burns says, there is no place to call home.

Houses became crime scenes on James Smith Cree Nation after a mass stabbing in September, and some families devastated by the massacre can't fathom returning to those homes.
