There's nothing like exploring a beach like this for the first time with it's rocky outcrops and caves, and all the mysterious things that get washed up in this barely touched part of this beautiful Philippines island paradise. We tap into that childhood adventurous spirit in our 8th instalment of this series.

Join A Few Sights & Sounds as we go on an urban exploration of the ruins of West Cove Resort and Spider House on the Diniwid beach side of Boracay Island. On previous visits to Boracay I once enjoyed drinks with friends at the Spider House bar. Nowadays it is very different indeed. Due to various land disputes the entire complex was torn down. We explored what remained.

We decided we were hungry, very hungry. So what better time to take on a huge plate of ribs and wings? As we are currently under MECQ here in Boracay we decided to have our feast delivered. The banyan tree in Lahaina, in Maui, Hawaii, United States, was planted on April 24, 1873, in Lahaina to mark the 50th anniversary of the arrival of first American Protestant mission. The banyan tree (Ficus benghalensis) known in Hawaiian as paniana, located in the Courthouse Square, which was renamed Banyan Tree Park covering 1.94 acres, is not only the largest in the state but also in the United States.

The tree was a gift from missionaries in India. A mere 8 feet (2.4 m) when planted, it has grown to a height of about 60 feet (18 m) and has rooted into 16 major trunks, apart from the main trunk, with the canopy spread over an area of about 0.66 acres (0.27 ha).
