Woot! Goodbye tampon tax! I'm so glad that the Michigan government finally focused on this. I'm hoping more states will soon follow suit since only around 10 states have done away with the tax so far.

So I finally have a day off, at home, where I don't have to go anywhere. I'm basically in heaven, lol. It's a pretty, snowy day, I have a cute kitty on my lap, I have homework that I'm really interested in, and I have a show to watch during breaks that I absolutely love. Am ia weirdo for combining abnormal psych and Criminal Minds? I mean, probably. But it seems like a perfect combo to me. 🤷

So...insomnia sucks, amiright? I've heard that there are people that just go to bed and *checks notes* fall asleep....and then they *shakes head in disbelief* stay asleep all night?! I dunno, it sounds made up to me.

Seriously though, if you're a fellow insomniac, I feel for you. The only time I can go to sleep and stay asleep is if I'm completely mentally and physically exhausted. Otherwise, I usually have at least an hour or two of my brain not shutting up. If this sounds like you, do you think about things like me or do you obsess over other issues? And hey, if you have an insomnia tip, feel free to share with me! 😊

Up until recently I mostly stuck to female authors for this exact reason. Not that female authors never do this sort of thing, because they definitely do, it just seems to happen a bit less often.

For today's post, I thought I would change up my MO of sharing only funny memes and introduce you all to the most wonderful human that has ever existed: my husband George.

George and I have sort of an odd backstory. His parents lived next door to my dad and step-mom for a super long time. We have a bit of an age difference though (8 years) and so never really met. In 2008, George and my family ended up attending the same church. A big group from church went out to eat a few times but again, we just didn't really talk much. On Christmas day in 2008, my step-mom invited him over to hang out. George thought this meant that it would be an informal gathering of people playing cards or something but was unpleasantly surprised to find himself in a super family-oriented gift opening session. He looked extremely uncomfortable so I started talking to him. We ended up on the subject of history (of which we are both super nerds) and didn't stop talking for hours. We didn't start "officially" dating until March of 2009, but got engaged in July and married one year later in July of 2010.

We've been dealing with infertility since then and have had our fair share (along with what I can only assume was someone else's share) of hard times including injuries, surgeries, money troubles, a failed adoption, car troubles and many other things but never once have I regretted marrying George. He is an extremely kind person. He's tough, he's funny, he's understanding, and he really cares about things that are important to me. We decided early on that we were never going to quit on each other no matter what life brought us. I'm happy to say that, even with all of the nonsense that life indeed brought us, we're happier with each other now than we were in 2009. ❤️

So there you go. That's George. I'm sorry that I had to be so nauseatingly sappy but it was necessary. 😜

I have never understood people who can just lose weight. I know fit people love to say that it's just willpower, and I'm not going to completely disagree there. Only because I have a hard time sticking to basically anything (even things I want to do or enjoy doing) for more than a few months. But I have actually stuck to weight loss "lifestyle changes" for almost two years before and lost absolutely no weight. It's extremely frustrating and is something you can only understand when you've been overweight your whole life.
