Woo-Hoo, the Shifting Gears Bike Path Dance Festival is in the works!

Are you a Madison area dance artist? Consider submitting a proposal and showing your work in this fun new Madison summer tradition!

We're thrilled to announce that we will be holding our first annual Shifting Gears Bike Path Dance Festival on Labor Day, Monday September 6th.

We're holding an open call for performance proposals from local dance artists - proposals via our pdf (available on our FB page) are being accepted through June 1st.

Come gather with friends, family, and neighbors around dance, bicycles, and our beautiful local parks as we shift gears out of this pandemic and into a new school year. Enjoy the beautiful outdoors along the bike paths and witness a stunning array of local dance groups with us!

Sonya is a q***r disabled artist and activist who has recently taken on the role of Co-Executive Director of Dance for All Bodies. We chatted with her about the work she's doing towards her dream of a more equitable, accessible, artistically daring world.

Did you catch the excellent movement of the day segment with guest Karlie Budge in episode 5?

Karlie is performing in an online dance event coming up with the Mark Morris Dance Group. You can sign up on their website to see her perform!

Karlie Budge grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she trained and performed with the Tennessee Children’s Dance Ensemble for ten years. She earned her BA in Dance and BS in Statistics from Case Western Reserve University. Shortly after graduating, Budge joined Graham 2 for two years. She became an apprentice with the Mark Morris Dance Group in 2018, and was hired fully in 2019.

Kia Karlen was so much fun to talk to - and the love that she and Yid Vicious show for dance makes them even more cool and an exciting part of the Madison area dance scene.

Yid Vicious Klezmer Ensemble was formed in 1995 in Madison, WI in order to ameliorate the woeful dearth of klezmer in America's otherwise pleasant heartland. Klezmer is Yiddish folk music, music for dancing and celebrating, and no band has caused more dancing and celebrating than Yid Vicious.

Make sure you register for the International Festival so you can enjoy the lark in the park that Yid Vicious has submitted.

We've had a great clip of Tania Tandias talking about the unique design and training of Flamenco and we've been dying to share it with you. Our recently released Episode 4: Local AbunDANCE was the perfect time for us release it!
