Well, hot diggity dog, would you look at that!
I’ve never posted about a callback before, because usually, an audition is just a bid—a shot among thousands. But this one is different.
Out of over 1,000 voice actors, being named in the Top 40 for the CBS Audition Spotlight callback through That’s Voice Over! Career Expo feels like a meaningful moment in my journey. I auditioned for this same opportunity a few years ago and didn’t make it. Looking back, I realize I wasn’t quite ready then. I’ve since put in the work, and this callback feels like recognition for those hours of honing my craft. It’s an honor to be among the top 40.
What makes this experience stand out isn’t just the callback; it’s who it’s for. This isn’t your typical commercial casting. It’s an opportunity to showcase my skills in front of a panel of highly respected voice actors, coaches, casting experts and possible high-profile clients who understand the art and the grit it takes. It’s kind of like a contractor landing an invitation to present their work in front of the best builders in the trade.
Contractors and craftspeople don’t often get the chance to demonstrate their skills to the top people in their field, so when a unique opportunity like this comes along, it’s worth acknowledging.
And I want to take a moment to thank Joan Baker and Rudy Gaskins for creating this incredible platform and opportunity. Your dedication to showcasing talent and fostering growth within the voice over community is truly inspiring. Thank you for believing in us and pushing us to rise to the occasion.
So here’s to all the other VO Craftspeople named in the Top 40, and to the fellow creatives out there who understand the value of persistence and craftsmanship. See you in LA!
