Finally! Went to my first pride parade! 🏳️‍🌈

The more time I spend in crowds, the more I give myself grace for hating it lol. I used to force myself to stay longer for fear of “missing out”. Now I’m out as soon as my social battery begins to tank for fear of being pi**ed I stayed beyond my own personal comfort level. Choosing to see the growth in choosing myself and MY feelings in the now, and not the future feelings that may or may not come. So grateful for a partner who listens to me when I use my voice and who loves and supports all of me. 🩷 Mercury, I see you girl. That voice is getting stronger. 💖

First road-trip of the year! I take being a cousin SO serious y’all 😅. Made it to VA to see my day one A1 and love on her and her family. Couldn’t ask for better family 💗 My auntie and her baby even pulled up so I was doubly blessed to see even more faces I love 🥹😍.

The woo woo babe in me has been reignited! I had the most restorative time with Introvert N the City and sharing in their beautiful gifts. I was most delighted to support these women, as they’ve supported me by being guests on Travel N S**t. This was also a full circle experience for me - Marsha introduced me to reiki and Italia introduced me to sound healing. How beautiful that my first in person experience of either was with the exact women I dreamed of providing both? This is all right on time for me, as I’m walking into an era of newness. Thanks for grounding me in my new season ladies, and thank you to for the goodie bag items! I met the team at my first Essence fest this summer and was honored to journal my experience in a gift of love from another Black woman. ❤ Just so excited for what’s to come. ✨💫

I got nominated for a award!!

I have no clue what y’all think happens behind the scenes, but it can be wildly frustrating and lonely trying to navigate building this little passion of mine into something sustainable. I am personally, really proud of myself for just applying. I talked myself out of it for years, and finally decided to just take a leap of faith and bet on myself. It feels so good to be seen and recognized in this way. As much “believe in yourself” messaging as we consume, it’s nice to be validated when you doubt how far your voice is reaching. Mama, Daddy, Justin, Aunt Kimmy, Mrs. Boyd, Brittney, Tiffany, Teela, Del, Wanda, yall, we out here! Thank you for cheering the loudest for me and reminding me to keep going. We not stopping now. This just the first.

Just a Binxi appreciation post… and a rant🥹. She’s such a beautiful little soul y’all. Pro tip for puppy parents - nobody tells you about the “senior tax”. It’s such an extra burden to have to negotiate with people about grooming senior dogs. Binxi is FIFTEEN. 15 in people years. At about 13, Petco out the blue tells us they don’t groom senior dogs (dogs over 10) on the weekend. Y’all had been grooming her (as a senior dog) on the weekends for 3 years but go off. Found a Black woman owned small business that we fell in love with. Been bringing her there since. All of a sudden, almost 3 years in, same story- we don’t want senior dogs on weekends- there’s too much going on. Heard you, so what are your options? One, this is new news. You had me sign the senior dog waiver when I started coming here and weekends were NEVER a problem. I work in the city, full time. When, pray tell, would you expect I or anyone else do anything that takes 4+ hours of business hour time (as in, some s**t that needs to get done during “normal” hours of business) but on the weekend? I absolutely HATE feeling like you’re doing me a favor WHEN I’M PAYING FOR THE SERVICE. Personal peeve.

So in a rant of a nutshell, if your blessed to age with your furry baby, either start asking your service providers their senior dog policies, learn to do what you can on your own or prepare to allot extra patience and bandwidth to negotiate their care. Business owners - consider better communication, ESPECIALLY with the families of aging clients. Y’all send a million emails asking for the extra lift of support and ratings on social media, etc; maybe offer the same in return.

**As an aside, since this is a rant, I asked for them to take EVERYTHING OFF. And they give me this poodle cut of cuteness. Abs adorbs. 😍 Truly. But not practical. If you’re giving me smoke about grooming her, why make it so I HAVE to bring her back sooner? Make her look like the adorable squirrel I asked you too, so that her facial and head hair grow at the same rate as the rest of her.

aside, one of the best feelings is when your fit looks as good ON as it does IN your head 😂😅. I was initially a bit intimidated to be amongst the glory that is Black women dressed to the nines, because I don’t see myself as a fashion girl. To compound matters (as luck would have it), I have expensive taste. 😩😅

I usually can’t afford the looks I REALLY want so I have to do the work and (gag) shop within my budget 😩. I truly don’t enjoy shopping the way 23 yr old me used to. I also just refuse to wear heels, so whatever I DO choose, has to go with flats or sneakers.

Aaaaaaall of that being said… Baby my fits were FIT👏🏽TING last week! I’ve come to realize that what I enjoy most about “fashion” is the story. It’s the energy a well curated look exudes that draws me in. It’s always always in the details. The right accessories, proper fit, complementary tones, unique pieces, expressive colors and patterns. It all matters. It all makes the look. But most importantly, is the person in the fit. Being comfortable in what I wear, both literally and figuratively always makes me feel most beautiful and like one of the fly girls, regardless of what I have on. So here’s to dressing for the bodies we have and feeling good in all of it. 🥂

is J’s favorite restaurant and he’s been talking about taking me for years. The service was top notch and I didn’t leave disappointed! Would absolutely go back and I do recommend!

The heat was WILD y’all. Took me out. Truly thought I wasn’t gona make it. But the beauty in getting a cup of ice water to go without a side eye is a blessing. ❤️

Not what I expected for my first time at Essence Fest but here we are. Our flight was cancelled in that cl*******ck of a mess on Mon/Tues. Instead of losing TWO AND A HALF days by flying out Thurs, we opted to drive the 20+ hours from NYC to NOLA 🫠🫠🫠.

We both had a stint as bartenders, so we have a special appreciation for a great cocktail and amazing customer service.

J had been talking about this castle in Old Quebec for years and we finally made it out. 1608 bar in the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac didn’t disappoint. Drinks and service were 🤌🏽🤌🏽 and I’d highly recommend. Looking forward to visiting again so we can check out more of what the property has to offer.

It’s a real one birthdaaaay!!!!

My favorite girl in the world is FIFTEEN!!!! My furry baby. My confidante. My pride n joy. All the fluffy feels. We’ve literally grown up and done life together. All of my adult years have been with her and I could never EVER ask for better. My little mirror. 🫶🏽 I love and celebrate you everyday but today is Binxi appreciation day in the stories! Also of note about this Mexico trip, FIRST INTERNATIONAL “GROUP” TRIP!

From solo, to partnered, to small groups, I’m still growing myself as a traveler. One thing I know for CERTAIN, though is you choose your life and travel partners wisely lol. I couldn’t ask for a better life partner. Suuuuuper grateful he came with the most amazing friends 🫶🏽

As soon as the cord for this GoPro comes in, I’m gona find the original. I just know it.

One of my LEAST favorite activities is finding the balance between content and being present. We went on the most incredible experience where we rode bikes to three different Cenotes in a small town, , near . I was SUPER excited to have not died trying to ride a bike again 😅 and wish I’d gotten that on camera, but I also had a good ass time just being in the moment. The water was cold and beautiful, and gave a ton of opportunity to face some fears and trust my body to keep me safe.

One thing I DON’T play with is my personal safety over a picture. I’d much rather live to remember the experience over a photo of me busting my ass. 😅 When was the last time you were present with yourself and enjoyed the moment? Talk to me👇🏽👇🏽!

Made it to !
One thing I’ll likely start implementing on travels is day pass access! After working all day (I rode a bike, y’all 😅. More on that later lol) being pampered on the beach was welcomed.

Day pass access allows you to enjoy the beach with all the amenities of a resort
⛱️ people paid to be here, so I’m more inclined to trust leaving my belongings behind while I enjoy the water.
⛱️ I don’t have to carry a chair and umbrella. Comfort awaits.
⛱️ why yes, yes I’d like more water and another drink while I wait for my food. Who doesn’t enjoy being waited on… ON THE BEACH.
