I’ve been having a really rough go at it the past few weeks. Super rough. I’ve been having a hard time getting out my head and feeling like I can’t orient myself enough to get sh*t done.
I go to work. Record the podcast once a week. Eat. Sleep. Watch some TV. That’s all I’ve had the capacity for. Everything else has been an absolute nightmare to try and focus on. So I haven’t. I’ve been feeling pretty stagnant.
But...
Thankfully, there have also been moments of absolute joy, fun and excitement, too. Every bad day and every good day, I’ve been loved and supported. I couldn’t, nor would I ask for a better partner to life with 🧡.
So just popping in to share a little joy. No dedication post. No major announcements. Just light at the end of the tunnel. This was a really great moment and that dress was $34. I got it from Amazon for an event I backed out of last March when the world was beginning to shut down. Kinda serendipitous to wear it as MY world opens up. 🧡
Ep 144. When I Grow Up - A Kid’s Perspective on Travel
A few weeks back, my bestie (HEY DEL!!) @brownbabehmama leant me her baby!! I chopped it up with my niece Lucy about her travel experiences, what she currently thinks is possible for her in the world of travel and advice for other kids traveling. This is the perfect episode for you to listen to with YOUR babies and the babies you love. Check in with them! Are they dreaming big? Are they holding on to limiting beliefs? Dive in for some insight and kid friendly conversation.
I did a suuuuper candid and get in my business episode of @bwtpod! Such an honor to be a guest. Stop by Black Women Travel Podcast and check out my story, along with so many other dynamic Black women who choose to make travel an important part of their lives. We have some beautiful stories, y’all. And be sure to follow and show my boo Wanda some love. 💛 link in her bio 💛
The intersection of race and travel is one of my favorite topics to tackle.
A few weeks back I sat with diversity in travel consultant and @nomadnesstribe creative lead Martinique Lewis to discuss her book ABC (All Black Content ☝🏽 see what she did there) Travel Green Book. Similar to the book created back in 1936 by Victor Hugo Green to keep black motorist as safe as possible driving throughout the US, Martinique has created a guide to finding black resources all around the globe. We discussed her travel experiences, her work with Nomadness, her expertise in diversity and inclusion and of course why all of this is so important to her. Dive in and learn how you can support black businesses AND experience black culture and community across the globe.
This one day was FULL of firsts. I waded across a river to get here. I hiked through the woods in only a swim suit (I’m the one judging people who hike in shorts in the movies) I jumped off a cliff into the Caribbean Sea. I swam into and ate in two separate caves. I tanned and smoked Cuban cigars on a rocky shoreline with new friends. I snorkeled. Held the cutest little octopus. Got got by a sea urchin. I learned real bananas have seeds (duh; makes total sense), what a non GMO avocado looks and tastes like and that oranges are actually green. Sh*t I even tread water which previously I SUCKED at 😂 (you do what you gotta do to like, not die while having fun). 33 has been incredible. 💛 This is my golden year. The ancestors are smiling and I’m claiming it ALL. #cuba #canasí
