Our Mission Statement:
Penny Kittle once said: “Reading should not be presented as a chore, a duty. It should be offered as a gift.”
With that it mind, our goal is to get young people to read. How? Gift you a book, and do everything except read it for you.
Here’s the idea: if you are between 18-25 and want to read a book, message us here or email [email protected] with the name of the book and why you want to read it. Add it to your amazon wishlist, and send us the link. We buy it, you read it within 30 days.
We will then buy an additional copy for ourselves and read it with you as your “book buddy.” Our only ask is that you let us know what you thought of the book. Did it meet your expectations? Did you finish it? Why? Why not?
After that, you have three choices: keep it, pass it, buy it (again.) You can add it to your collection, pass it on to someone else, or keep it for yourself and buy it for someone else just like we did for you.
Each month we will post the review (either with your name or anonymously if preferred) and foster a thoughtful discussion about the book. At least one other person, your book buddy, will have read it as well.
Rinse and repeat until ALL THE BOOKS THAT EVER EXISTED ARE READ.
Okay, maybe we won’t get that far, but let’s try to make a dent.
The plan is to start August 1st, 2020, provided we’ve found someone who likes free books. Let’s get to reading!
