We’re planning on an indoor show, but if the weather cooperates, we may move it outdoors. (We’ll know long enough in advance to issue a “bring a chair” warning.)

Andrew Grimm has brought June Star to BandWidth many times, as a 2 piece a 3 piece and a 5 piece. We’d gladly welcome him with any number of pieces (or even in pieces!) For this event he’ll, once again, be accompanied by Dave Hadley and his amazing pedal steel guitar.

Yes, it’s also high time for the return of the famous BandWidth Inn potluck! So BYO food and drinks to share!

Many of us started down the rock & roll road, with a touch of twang, by listening to bands like Poco and the Flying Burrito Brothers back in the day. Then we followed that vein through Uncle Tupelo to its many descendants. June Star starts with this musical DNA and has mined—-and extended— the genre for years. Andrew Grimm is a prolific, smart, songwriter, an incredible guitarist and a distinctive vocalist. (He’s funny too.) Dave Hadley is as good a pedal steel player as any on the planet, adding richness, depth and color to Andrew’s compositions. The combination makes for some wonderful listening!

This is interesting! Any budding songwriters out there? Reach out to Sarah!

Having a little break from the road while we start work on our new record is giving me time for something I’ve always wanted to experiment with.

Starting this week I’ll be offering songwriting instruction via Zoom. Rates are affordable, and time slots are available. Please message me at [email protected] for info.

All ages and abilities are welcome. We’ll start with a song of yours, whether it be just an idea or a half-finished creation, and see if we can move it forward towards completion.

My years of songwriting and performing have taught me that many baby steps forward with a budding song are more common for me than a sudden flash of inspiration that results in a completed composition. Let’s see if we can get your song closer to the finish line!

We’ll talk about things like basic helpful chord progressions, coloring your words with chord choices, and how a good bridge can take your song to a new level.

Really looking forward to this…

I saw Mary and Jaimee on the recent Outlaw Country Cruise (yeah the one where Mojo Nixon died). Mary and Jaimee were in a “guitar pull” (that’s where a few artists trade songs and chat) with Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams and Ray Wylie Hubbard, and even in this rarified company they stole the show! Mary’s song Mercy Now was one of the true highlights of the entire cruise. Not a dry eye in the house, and a 5 minute standing ovation!

I want to make sure that everyone who may not be familiar with them knows what a you-can’t-miss-it Outpost in the Burbs event this will be!
