Hello good people of Northrepps and beyond!

We hope you're all well and enjoying the (errr) freedom?

As mentioned, The Northrepps Lockdown is moulding itself in to Poppyland Radio, a new community radio station for the Poppyland area (and beyond!) and things are moving at good speed.

We have kindly been offered a studio space at the Belfry Centre for Music & Arts in Overstrand, we are forming a Community Interest Organisation, we have a group of trustees, we have a steering group, we have a sizeable group of volunteers, we have training ready to go, new website coming soon and a potential launch date in early November.

We have a variety of shows for you to listen to such as local history, folk, local arts, classical, funk, soul, young people's show, mid-afternoon mardle, smallholders/allotments, prog rock, comedy, storytime, council corner, exercise and wellbeing - all with a local tinge.

What's that? Where is the quiz? Of course there is the quiz!! Pencilled in for Sunday afternoons. We're looking for some regular quiz hosts. If you think you can offer up some time to present the quiz hour, please get in touch- [email protected]
We're also looking for people to host shows about local walks, gardening, pets/animals, charities, sport, food & drink.

Fingers crossed for website next month and more news about a November launch.

After the fun we had with this, there has been some discussion about turning it in to a bigger thing. As we no longer have North Norfolk Radio, there appears to be a gap for our local communities to get involved in something quite exciting.

COMMUNITY RADIO PUBLIC MEETING

The Belfry Centre for Music & Arts, Cromer Rd, Overstrand, NR27 0NT
Wednesday 30th June 7.30pm

There has been a strong interest in the idea of starting a community radio station, offering people the chance to present their own shows, help out with the technical side of things and assist with a worthy local project.

The Belfry Centre for Music & Arts in Overstrand has very kindly offered some space for this as a base. We have just about enough equipment to get going, we just need people.

We are putting a call out for people/parties who would be interested in forming a group of volunteers and a steering group to get the ball rolling. Roles will include presenting, editing, admin, technical, training and fundraising. Perhaps you have an idea for a show or a feature, a competition or a what’s on guide. All ideas are welcome.

The very last Northrepps Lockdown today and it's a jam packed show.

We want to thank each and every one of you for making this what it is. We have thoroughly enjoyed it each Sunday.

A big thank you to the Dinner Club for all the awesome goodies they dropped off at a social distance and to Cariad Cakes for the outstanding cake. You made us feel very special, thank you.

Northrepps is a great little community to a part of and we are very pleased to be part of it. Onwards and upwards folks - all the very best to you all!

The very last show!

Over the last year, beginning on April 5th, the Northrepps Lockdown has had 35 shows, 21 guests, 10 features, 9 guest quizzes and over 200 Facebook follows. At a maximum we've had just over 500 listeners and a minimum of just 12. We've had a puppy going about its business on the floor mid show, children crying, children arguing, children squabbling, children telling us they're hungry, telling us they're bored and sometimes they've become involved in the shows! And overall we've really enjoyed doing it.

It's been a very bizarre year and hopefully this little broadcast has helped you in some way.
